All Things Considered, September 8, 2005 · Americans are highly critical of President Bush's handling of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, according to a new poll by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press.
And for the first time since the Sept. 11 attacks, the public thinks the president should focus more on domestic policy than on the war on terrorism.
Robert Siegel discusses the poll results with the Pew Center's Andew Kohut.
The poll shows that 67 percent of Americans say Mr. Bush could have done more in handling relief efforts, while 28 percent say he did all he could.
The federal government's response to Katrina was rated only fair or poor by 58 percent of poll participants, while 51 percent said the same for the response of state and local governments.
The poll highlights racial divisions over the government's response to the hurricane. Some 66 percent of African Americans said the government's response would have been faster had most of the victims been white. But 77 percent of whites said the government's response would have been no different.
The telephone poll was conducted Sept. 6-7 among 1,000 Americans. This poll included an oversampling of African Americans to ensure there were enough interviews for reporting results in that demographic group, the center said.

What does that mean,999 of the called were liberal blacks?

Of one thing you can be sure; the MSM will keep polling and polling, changing the questions and skewing the sample until they get the result they want: It's all Bush's fault!

WTF kind of poll is this! LOL
They will keep polling until they get poll results they like.
They will keep telling lies about who had the responsibility and the authority to act until they convince people it's all Bush's fault.
They will never admit that the federal government does not have the authority to take over the relief efforts without the state governor's permission and that such permission was not given.
When the governor finally called up enough of the national guard and requested help from the national guard from other states, things progressed quickly. As FEMA was given more free reign, things got done.
If African Americans ever start paying attention to the differences between what liberals say and what they do, the liberals will be thrust out of power quickly. However, they continue to work to create situations where African Amenracians cannot take control of their own lives and pull themselves out of poverty. Then they tell African Americans that it's all the fault of republicans, and for some reason, most of them appear to believe it.
I guess it's easier to blame someone else, than to take responsibility and work to solve your own problems. Democrats have always played on that aspect of human nature, and I guess it's most appealing to the poor.

With Bush calmly watching it unfold before him. I think that is one reason why they hate him so much. He doesn't get upset at all the insane criticism, and doesn't react with anger and hate. He takes it all in stride knowing full well that their ranting only hurts them, not him.
In hindsight, everyone could have done more. What a stupid question.
If he would have stepped in and over-rode the Gov and Mayor, the Dems and MSM would have shouted "Power Grab".
One of the problems with Katrina was that at first no one knew how bad things were and once they did, there was no real way to get to the affected areas except by chopper.
Fifty Billion Dollars in aid is a very good response in my book.
