AUSTIN, Texas - A grand jury has indicted a political action committee formed by U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and a Texas business group in connection with 2002 legislative campaign contributions.
The five felony indictments against the two groups were made public Thursday. Neither DeLay nor any individuals with the business group has been charged with any wrongdoing.
The charge against Texans for a Republican Majority alleged the committee illegally accepted a political contribution of $100,000 from the Alliance for Quality Nursing Home Care.
Four indictments against the Texas Association of Business include charges of unlawful political advertising, unlawful contributions to a political committee and unlawful expenditures such as those to a graphics company and political candidates.

Sounds bad. I wonder if the PAC will end up doing jail time?

The legislature really needs to remove the exclusive jurisdiction from Ronnie Earl to indict political offenses in Texas. He is an activist Democrat fund raiser.

Why is it bad?! The grand Jury did not find anything wrong with Delay.

Supposedly the democrats are back on the gain in Texas so it would be a poor PR move to change authority on ethics cases after all the talk of scandals.

In the end, the charges will most likely be dismissed like 98% of Earl's indictments are.

Are you sure you are from Texas?
Just asking, 'cause most folks say "here in Texas".

No your the idiot dude.
What can we do to change this process.
Ronnie Earls can take something to court if he has enough evidence that a crime was committed in his jurisdiction.
Any other DA could do this if a crime happened in his jurisdiction.
Basic law; its the DAs job to find out who is most likely guilty. They are over zealous by design.
If Tom Delay has nothing to hide then his brilliant lawyers should be able to cast doubt upon Earles case.
Its up to a jury, Earle has done his job.

Just do not know where to begin on this diatribe. Here at FR it is considered bad form to make personal attacks. Even overlooking this reply post that starts with a personal attack; lightislife has compounded this with spelling and grammatical errors. Not to mention hazy assertations that are backed by, well, nothing.
To: MEG33
Who cares about Ronnie Earle! The question is, how do you change the law without making a bad PR move in the middle of scandal talks?!
This would only fire up the democratic base the same way Delay fired our base up in the middle 90's!
Almost exactly the same way. Don't tell me the PR of yalls flagrant calls shouldn't be considered

Backed by nothing! That is the law. The DA takes things to court and the Grand Jury decides on the evidence whether it can go to trial!
I dont like Earle, I'm only considering the strategy of the situation.
And by the way, that fella de-meaned me first.
