AMHERST, Mass. --U.S. Rep. John Olver announced Wednesday that he is being treated for a bacterial infection in his brain and expects to be fully recovered in about a month. Olver, 69, said in a statement that the infection was treatable with antibiotics, and he was undergoing treatment at his home in Amherst and at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. "Because of great medical advances, the medicines can be administered in a fully automated way that does not require hospitalization," he said. "To the degree possible, I will complete the treatment while resuming my full activity," said Olver, D-Mass. The treatment is expected to take about one month to complete. Olver said he wants to return to Washington as soon as possible.
Olver, who has represented the 1st Congressional District since 1991, underwent a procedure two years ago to clear an artery in his heart. He returned to Washington about a week after an angioplasty and having a stent inserted at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

He is, unfortunately, my Congressman... and I loathe his very existance!
He WAS my Congressman till I moved to Georgia. He's a liberal Kennedy bootlicker.
Why in Ma, Dc and Ve there are so many Socialists?
Maybe we can put a full load of antibiotics in the water supply for the House and Senate and treat them en masse.
I've known John for nearly 30 years. Yup, he's pretty darned liberal. But he's also a very nice man...even though he's probably an atheist. Steve Allen was an atheist, too. That always amazed me.
Because after they screwed up NY/NJ with high taxes and rampant crime/unemployment, they had to leave.
Marty Meehan was mine, til I moved to Va. Coulda been worse though... coulda been Bawney Fwank. (shudder)
This is done in poor taste. I don't think that connecting someone's political viewpoints to their medical conditions is something that we do on FR. Perhaps you consider having this thread pulled?
This what DUer's do not FR.
I agree with you.
This is medical proof that liberalism IS a bacterial infection of the brain.
The two do not go together.
We finally have concrete evidence. Liberalism is a mental disease!
What I stated about Olver was the truth.
I don't doubt what you say. In light of his present medical condition, this is not appropriate. In another thread when discussing politics, it is. We should have more respect than this.
After treatment maybe he will be a 'R' !
