First, she is incompetent and a buffoon. Second, she didn't want to create an incentive for anyone to stay at the Superdome or Convention Center (she wanted to starve them out and force them to leave), not anticipating that the levees would break and they would not be able to get out.

Mike, If anyone disregarded the poor blacks of New Orleans.... it was Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin. But I will bet you anything that CNN or MSNBC would not have you on any of their shows to share your views, only FOX NEWS.

Two things need to be absolutely confirmed here though. First, it must be established by testimony or affidavit that she did in fact personally refuse the Red Cross. Second, the reason for the refusal must be because it was expressly stated that there was a security issue and the safety of the Red Cross workers could not be guaranteed..

I want to jump on this bandwagon as much as anyone else, but certain things must be nailed down.

Blanco and Nagin never got along to begin with. I'm sure that Nagin will come around and wake up and smell the coffee. If I'm not mistaken Nagin supported Jindal in the LA gubernatorial election.

I have thought the same thing at times, but you do have to factor in the sheer incompetence and stupidity of Blank-O and Nagin as well. Those two things probably had more to do with what happened than anything else.
