My father was a resident of Monmouth County...Manalapan Township to be exact. There were almost 800 people killed on 9/11 that were NJ residents and Monmouth, I believe, was the county with the most victims(147 killed).
The monument is being built in Atlantic Highlands which is the highest point on the eastern seaboard and has a view of NYC across Raritan Bay...beautiful.

Thanks Coop!

Okay, thanks for educating me.
Chris: I looked at planned Atlantic Highlands Memorial.
The symbol of the Eagle rising up from a WTC beam reminds me of this:
Isaiah 40:31
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint."
Ever since 9-22-01, I wanted to go to Shanksville to say 'thanks you' to the passengers of Flight 93.
Last October I was finally able make the pilgrimage and like others who have been there....I shall always cherish the memory of that sacred ground where they rest. It was an emotional experience that still evokes tears, gratitude and pride.
WE will always remember September 11 and honor the heroes of Flight 93.
