DR. BOYCE WATKINS, AUTHOR AND PROFESSOR: Well, they're very different. But I want to ask you, have you ever really been to New Orleans (search) and really seen the poverty that people live under? New Orleans resets the definition of what it means to be poor. I went to about 25 different cities this year, promoting college attendance for inner city students. And New Orleans led the nation in terms of being the worst educational system in...

WATKINS: Well, if you define looting as going into someone else's turf and taking something that doesn't belong to you, you can argue that we're looting in Iraq right now.
- - -
WATKINS: . . .
I mean, this city was left in a state of emergency with no federal support whatsoever. Nobody came in to protect these people. And you're worried about shooting the looters before you're worried about feeding the looters?
And so maybe if you loot on a full stomach, maybe that's a problem. But the reality is that there are lots of things going on in America. And...

SEAN HANNITY, CO-HOST: Boyce, I want to ask you a question here. There was an AP article that quoted a guy who said, "It's an opportunity to get back at society," meaning the looting. Do you agree with that?
WATKINS: Yes, absolutely. You have a lot of people that are very frustrated. And the thing is that you have them in poverty, and they really don't have a way out.

WATKINS: You need to talk about the issues. The fact is that you're choosing one segment of society to kick around. You've got looters with Enron (search). You've got looters in Iraq. Focus on that. Talk about that.

I could not believe what I was hearing last night. As I read it I am more livid. His words were unconscionable.
Where was the Mayor and Governor to help these folks get out of poverty. I mean they can sure put on a party, reap the money but where did it go? So many are poor, whose fault is it? Is it mine, my beloved's, your fault or the President faults? No, if this is what you know, than this is what you expect.
I am tired of listening to those who think they deserve more and more and more. I am sorry for their losses. I am sorry that they are displaced. I do know this should be taken as an opportunity. They are now given a chance to start over. I do not belittle their loss, their homes their belongings but now we must help them look forward. Not to give them a hand out but a hand up.
I so worry for all those states that have opened their arms to so many displaced folks. I commend their generosity and humanity. But, I do wonder if those who refused to make more of themselves, the poor of the poor might be a drain on other states. I suppose I might get slammed for that remark but I do worry.
I saw that they are working to give displaced folks debit cards, families with 2000.00 in the account. For some this is their first real credit/debit card. For others, they may have had them but do not qualify. I am just saying that there is much good that can come of this. It will take time, we must not forget what they lost but we must give them that hand upward and not a hand out.
I am not the best writer. My beloved [No Longer Free State] is much more gifted in this area. But I do think I got my point across.
PING
We annexed Iraq?
The poor jus' can't help it that they're criminals and scumbags, you know. At least according to wonderful, caring liberals.
Is it justified that people don't want to have poor people live near them, and businesses choose not to locate in poor areas, because of looting, crime, and violence?
If this !@#$% gets away with his racist diatribe then the statement I made above is legitimate.
Boyce needs an exclusive, all expenses paid vacation to the Superdome, complete with wall to wall oppressed people from New Orleans to keep him company.
For the moment I'd like to concentrate on the fact that someone has looted the professor's good sense.
What are we taking in Iraq that doesn't belong to us?
Astonishing!
That's why I don't even bother watching these idiot leftists on TV anymore!
Another idiot showing it on tv. Hope they all come out and sink.
What? The governor didn't want them to lift themselves out of poverty. She wanted a reliable base of needy poor people who wanted the loot and services the government could give them.
I got the video of this segment:

(Watch it if you dare)
Another example of failed public education and social promotion. I couldn't believe this guy as I watched him spew this garbage. It's a shame that he is called a Dr.
The reason he isn't blaming the "white" lady governor is because she is a democrat and somehow excapes (spelling intentional) scrutiny. Just like Kennedy getting away with murder. Literally.
As a group, we need to start treating people who use words and communications like this guy does as if they are using the n-word. No discussions, no explainations, just plain venemous outrage. Put the onus on them to figure out how to keep rocks from raining down on their heads.
Similarly, we need to refuse to support ANYTHING such people say, no matter how reasonable, if it serves to injure or hinder conservative principles.
By the, er, "author" is this little lump of garbage: What If George Bush Were A Black Man? One reviewer - not me - called it "unprincipled tripe." Caveat emptor.
"You have a lot of people that are very frustrated."
"You've got looters with Enron "
So does this mean that the looters with Enron are just very frustrated people? I can't follow this guy's reasoning.
