Is anyone else getting sick of these "reporters-as-heros" stories? First Jerry Rivers, then Ted "Hairpiece" Koppel. What's next? Sean Penn donning scuba gear to go salvage some hobo's harmonica? Does anyone believe these stagey shenanigans?
Two words: Jason Blair.
Heh heh heh heh!
Does anyone believe these stagey shenanigans?
...
No! Faux heros interfer with real rescue and relief workers.
If I was a reporter covering something like that, and someone needed help - I would help. I'm not the kind of person who could just watch. Whether you like Geraldo's reporting or not, you have to admit, he's passionate.

More to the point, reporters, who for generations have been warned to stay out of the story, have now become the story. And, hey, they always have to look good don't they? What's a little gonzo tweaking here and there? The sheeple can't tell truth from fiction anyhow, can they? I do wonder how much of this crap Roger Ailes will put up with, though.
