Let's take a break from the joy of Bush bashing to reveal the dirty little secret of New Orleans: Its local government deserves an F for its planning and response to Katrina. And one other thing: The New Orleans police force would be a joke if it weren't a disgrace.

An earlier article said that 40-something cops are already in Vegas! That's beyond disgraceful.
By the way, the 2 sentences I edited seemed inappropriate, however, I am assuming the author was trying to make a point and did not literally mean it.
Did they take their $2000 debit cards with them?
When things settle down, we need an investigation into this city's local politicians. How is it that after 9/11...when most PDs are getting federal funds to boost Homeland Security and shore-up their planning, that New Orleans has all these deficiencies. I'm beginning to understand why Blanco doesn't want any federal intervention.
It always comes out eventually. It will be faster than normal this time.
They went to see their real bosses.
One week and the cops are already worn out and used up. Pathetic.
Who made you an editor? If you're going to post an article, then post it, unless it has to be excerpted.
To paraphrase Mayor Bling-Bling:
'You don't understand, man. These police are tired and burned out. This is a party town'.
And this is NYC's leading LEFT-wing tabloid.
MISSING SENTENCES
If even a smidgen of the racism charges are true, President Bush should be shot. But before we give him his blindfold, let's look at New Orleans before Katrina.
They're out enjoying the proceeds of their fenced goods, spending the cash from smashed ATM machines (true account), and pawning the prescription drugs stolen from Walgreen's.
"Who made you an editor? If you're going to post an article, then post it, unless it has to be excerpted."
My mistake. I should have checked the excerpt box. Once I realized that I didn't I added the second message about the edit (in addition to the note I made in the article).
It was one of my first 2 or 3 article posts.
No one would make me an editor. English was my worst subject.
Apology accepted, and believe me, you're not the only one who has done that, far from it. Therefore, I apologize for the sniping.
That is absolutely appalling and disgraceful! And this from an Editor at a major newspaper ?? I believe the Secret Service would like to have a word or two with this editor ....
If you wait for the government to help you, then you are waiting too long.
I just re-read the column again several times, keeping the context in mind while doing so. The paragraph in question acts as a transitional phrase where the author ended his sarcasm at the end of the previous paragraph before getting serious with the next paragraph, on to the end of the column. So which part of the column does this phrase belong to? The first part, the sarcastic part? Or the second part, the serious part?
I predict that Bush will go on national TV and announce that due to all the critcs blathering, he will not run for another term!!!!
