Air America has had the wind pulled from it's sails in Charleston, SC. Air America took over the AM 730 dial when Clear Channel moved its conservative line-up over to FM. Now they have changed the format on 730 AM to "The Music of You Life" featuring artists like Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, and Nat King Cole.

From my days in the Boston area, Kiss-108 was a disco station.
No, no, that's WXKS-_FM_ (107.9) you're thinking of. WXKS AM
1430 did simulcast their sister station for a brief while
then launched "Music of Your Life", which they had until
last Oct. when owners Clear Channel switched them and
Framingham's WKOX to Scare America.

God bless Frank Sinatra. Even from the grave he's still the Chairman of the Board

Thanks for doing this for me. I saw the ping from Salo (comment #19) but I was at a volunteer job and didn't have my official "SC Ping Kit" with me :)

nothing will happen, the libs love Liar Al and they are the only ones listening. I used to listen when conservative talk radio got boring, but not anymore after last week's randi rhodes rant encouraging looting
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1476273/posts. That is way over the line.

Not to split hairs but 730 WSC was a liberal talk radio station, not an Air America one. AA counts it that way but it didn't carry only AA shows. AA counts any station that only carries Al Franken or Jerry Springer ( their only "marketable" shows ) as an AA station.
They used to bill themselves as "radio for the rest of Charleston". I guess they mean for those who want to fall asleep at the wheel.
Glad to see it gone. It was boring as anything. Just to please the "how can you criticize something you've never heard?" crowd, I tried to listen to it, but it was agonizing, much like a child throwing a noisy tantrum just get to attention.

Snert! Amazing, ever since a certain talk show host named Michael Graham left, 730 has just gone to hell in a handbag!

730AM WSC used to be the local Rush Limbaugh station. I almost had to buy a new car radio with a signal booster just to hear it in northern parts of the area. Didn't have to get a new radio after they moved him to a new more powerful station, 94.3 FM WSC.
Not here in Charleston, but lefties at a couple of other cities claimed that they ran off Rush. A couple of AM stations "dropped" him. It was in a similar deal like this one in Charleston. What the leftists touted as a victory for them, was actually a major defeat as Rush got better coverage after the moves.

The lefties always have NPR, at least until their taxpayer dollars are shut off.

I guess "Progressive 730" is no longer so "progressive."

Any frequency near the top of the dial such as 730 is certainly desirable. Many top-ranking AM stations are located there.
To quote from a Sinatra song about New York, "If you can't make it there you can't make it anywhere."

What is so funny that Air America tried to start a station in a very conservative state. Hell, when the NAACP boycotted tourism went up.
