Jay-Z and Rhymefest React to Kanye’s Anti-Bush Comments

As Kanye West’s scathing comments about the media, the government, and the president’s handling of Hurricane Katrina become old news, rappers and other figures are still reacting to his unscripted NBC rant. Jesse Jackson praised Kanye’s sentiments on Larry King Live, and Jay-Z and Rhymefest have both recently spoke on the rapper’s remarks.

“I’m backing Kanye 100%,” Jay-Z told Billboard. “What’s going on? Why were people so slow to react? I don’t understand it.”

Another one of Kanye’s comrades and fellow Chi-town rapper, Rhymefest, had some harsh words regarding the handling of the disaster as it relates to blacks.

“Black people, man, we – I’m starting to think that we are some of the softest people on the planet,” he said. “We’ll stand up to each other but we won’t stand up to the people who don’t really like us. And then when we stand up to the people that don’t like us, everybody else is like ‘ooooh. Look what he did.’ Instead of looking at George Bush like, ‘why won’t Satan help us?’ Of course Satan don’t like you. Where’s the surprise,” he asks.

Rhymefest insisted that Black people should be responsible for themselves.

“Why didn’t we have water and canned food to take care of ourselves or a plan in a time of crisis? This is on us.”

Jay-Z plans on making sure that next time a disaster takes place, there will be funds reserved specially to help black people. He expressed a desire to collaborate with Sean “Diddy” Combs to create this type of savings.

“Just in case anything like this happens in the future, we can do what the elder Bush and [former President Bill] Clinton are doing for our people specifically," Jay-Z said.

The "ENTITLEMENT" society at its best. Whatever I want, you have to provide it. If I'm too stupid to save myself, then you have to save me -- it is my right. If you don't save me from my own idiocy, then you are to blame.

To me Mike Meyers had never been so funny in his life. Just the way he tried to contain his expression as Kanye left the script was somewhat hysterical. And he wasn't trying to be funny.

But you vote for Democrats anyway.

Yo Yo...I'd like to make a shout out to all those white devils (you know who you are) who are writing checks and are responsible for sending millions $$ in relief to the disenfranchised minorities......Next time, please send money sooner, so we don't have to go hungry.

"Say, isn't that racist?"

No, no. These guys are black. That would only be racist if a white performer said it about white people. /sarc

Not a bad idea. It won't sell records, like Kanye West's retarded spiel, but hey, it make actually do something good for the people he professes to care about. That, right there, guarantees that the Dems will probably sabotage it.

Note to moron Leftists. When you are at a charity event and go up on stage and rant and rave your wacko hate filled political views, MILLIONS of people snap their checkbooks closed and say "SCREW YOU LOSERS". There is a time and place for everything. That was neither.

Exactly! Just who do these idjits think is doing all the donating? It's certainly not the "inner city folk". You'd think that they would know enough not to bite the hand that feeds them, but then again nothing that comes out of their mouths surprises me anymore.

This whole debacle reminds me of something you'd see in Mogadishu, except the warlords aren't as clearly defined. No authority, no one in charge, every man for himself. Total anarchy. Up here in the Pacific Northwest, where we could have an earthquake/volcano/tsunami at any time, I'm going to start laying in the necessary supplies for an extended time w/o water, power, heat, etc. And plenty of ammo, too! I can see from N.O. that those who didn't prepare ahead will be coming for mine; damned if they'll take it without a few of them dying for their efforts.

but as for real people ... what's a jay-z ?

Aint that many real people left in the country.

Take the total population. Subtract those who vote down the Democratic party line. Then, subtract those who vote down the Republican part line. Subtract illegal aliens, and people under age 18.

The remaining number is the amount of "real" people in the U.S. "Real" being defined as those who's opinion should matter.

Larry King and CNN should publicly apologize for airing such bigoted tripe. Lord knows if some Country singer went on the air and said that black people commit violent crimes against white people so often because they hate whites they'd be crawling over each other to do so.

I can't be the only person on this thread who's wondering what Robert Bork has to do with Jay-Z and Rhymefest.
