The spike in crime will be a story kept under the rug by the MSM - unless they can use it in a way to throw stones at Houston again - like making their law enforcement look inept.

The incompetent list needs to include their Senator Landrieu.
She's the one that sneaked through election by promising sugar cane farmers to keep their subsidies, has her brother sitting next to this clueless Governor as a Lt. Governor, and told the world she would smack Bush if he tries to get off his responsibility list.
Senator go get your brother, he sat idly on the switchboard of governing, or after all else seems to have made no diference whatsoever.

Yeah, me, I'm sick to my soul of hearing the loonie left Bush haters, who ignore every good and honorable success of the Bush Administration, while at the same time fabricating failings which they magnify and shout from the hilltops as the truth.
The New York Times, calling the Compassion, empathy and generosity of the fine citizens of Houston, Texas, for the evacuees, some kind of scheme to profit from their suffering; exposes the reality that drinking the poluted waters covering New Orleans is better for your health than consuming the words on the pages of the vindictive, New York Times.
Let the reader be ware.

Unlike you, I have not lived in Houston all my life but I have never been in such a friendly city. Strangers on the street/stores actually smile at you. Most drivers allow you to merge. Little things like that. It does not surprise me at all that Houstonians have opened their hearts to the evacuees. The NYT would never recognize the dynamic yet human heartbeat of Houston.

The Astrodome was prudently stocked with disaster supplies because nearby Galveston might need them in the event of a big hurricane Very good foresight. Why didn't the people of NO stock the Superdome in the same manner?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Did Houston really need 30,000 people without jobs, homes or money to suddenly move to their city? The Democratic Party certainly did - instant constituents, for as long as they can keep them poor.
I think the Astrodome is located in TX District 9, which went 72% for the Democrat Al Green in '04. I don't think their presence will alter the balance in a congressional race, FWIW.

I think the shrillness of the dems is because the difference of Republican-led states and a Democrat-led state is so apparent to anyone with a shred of intelligence and openness to see reality. LA is flailing hopelessly about between giants. TX is taking in LAers and MS is courageously going about rescuing people and rebuilding their lives. Talk about a contrast.

Can someone from the Houston Area please post an address where I can send some clothes for the poor unfortunate souls at the Astrodome? My wife has gone through her closets and has quite a few clothes that we need to either donate to a local church or someone else.
Thanks in advance!

Eff them. I've donated clothing and supplies, given all the cash in my wallet for supplies, and spent last Satuday morning building a bunch of shelving units for an expanded Red Cross shelter in my area.
It made me feel good to help. I hope by God that it made the victims feel better than they did before myself and several thousand others in the metro Houston area stepped up to help. Are we saints? Not me, but I'm sure there are quite a few from Houston, and without any hope of monetary gain.
May the NYT choke on it's own bile.

This is absolutely disgusting. No city could have possibly responded better. If New Yorkers allow them to get away with this.........

Oh oh... Don't tick off the Texans. I've have watched day after day the wonderful people of Texas offer everything they have to the victims of the storm. This weekend was incredible, seeing countless people from churches and other groups helping out. Hmm... how many New Yorkers gave up their WEEKEND to help? Hmmm... not nearly as many as the Texans. If Texas does make a buck from all of this, GOOD FOR THEM, they earned it. God Bless the beautiful state of Texas and their wonderful citizens. Enough said.

Hello friend,
If you will send them to Second Baptist Church 6400 Woodway Drive Houston, 77057, I assure you, they'll get to the Astrodome. Just be sure to indicate who the contents are for. Peace.

There were no supplies in the SuperDome because George Bush didn't drive the tractor trailers down there and stock the shelves. Thats why.
. The stunningly inept leadership is NO and LA could have thought to prepare for hurricanes...but that would have involved forethought planning.
