As time goes on, and the truth begins to come out, the Fed numbers will improve and the local/state numbers will get much worse.

All most people have to go on are hysterical media reports based on emotion and not the facts.

Bring on the commission (or at least the truth)!!!!!

Winners do.

Losers sit around and blame.

That we're supposed to show we aren't "racist" by at least trying to rebuild the city?

You know, typical lib-think, it's the good intentions that count?

I may have to suffer through more CNN today to see how Bill Schneider, human top, will spin this.

The reason the media is starting to cover the failure of both the Mayor and Governor, is their polls show that the pubic does not blame Bush. And by continuing to do so they were just hurting the reputation of the media.

You know the media has just about got to be ready to have a stroke. They have pursued President Bush over this with a fury and intensity I have never seen. They've been proudly proclaiming that this event will be the one that jolts the "toothless" media back into life to be able to relive their Watergate glory days.

And yet for all the sound and fury and unhinged Bush hatred they've spewed since before Katrina even departed New Orleans, they can only get 13 percent of the public to blame Bush for it, and in a poll that has to be so ridiculously rigged that the methodolgy would make you laugh out loud - I wonder if they sampled any Republicans at all. The wonder is that they even mentioned they conducted this poll. I would have expected this one to go right into the shredder.

Despite the tawdry drumbeat from the the RATS and their media handmaidens, the American people ain't buyin the BS that it's Bush's fault.

The 13% figure is excellent news.

So ... who's to blame?

Local officials, 25%

Federal officials 18%

Bush 13%

No one 38%

Only 13% blame Bush. Must be a typo. Even I thought this attack will boomerang but never in my wildest dreams did I think the percentage blaming Bush would be this low.

Heck, on a good day 40% blame Bush for the sun going down.

I don't think old Bill can spin this except as a story that will be "too early to be considered certain.".........

ABC Poll posted here on FR on Sept. 5th:

ABC Poll: Bush not taking brunt of criticism

Sept. 4, 2005 — Americans are broadly critical of government preparedness in the Hurricane Katrina disaster — but far fewer take George W. Bush personally to task for the problems, and public anger about the response is less widespread than some critics would suggest.

Compare to poll of MSM (my estimate)

90% Blame Bush
10% Blame Federal agencies (under Bush)
0 % Blame State and local government

And an astounding 100% believe high gas prices are the fault of Halliburton

I think like always the media moves public opinion in the very beginning. But after digging through their BS we find there is an agenda there and the truth always comes out. The funny thing is that these pinkos in the MSM are still on the blame Bush mode.

I'm sure there are some who believe it should be rebuilt - in a different location.

Oh, I didn't think of that.

Re#8 Bingo. I saw a number of posts yesterday observing the MSM presstitutes singing a little different tune, e.g. NBC talking about the school busses and Chrissy Matthews looking at the local failings...

Based on the governor's reaction to Bush, I wonder if her dithering was caused by her hate for the guy. "Rats have shown they are willing to destroy the country to get at Bush, letting a few die in the flood waters of NO doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

I don't understand these two numbers. This appears to mean that some of the people who think the city is devastated beyong repair think it should be rebuilt. Does that make sense to anyone?

I think what they are saying (mindreading) is that the city can not be rebuilt to be what it was. The city can be scaled down and rebuilt as a smaller replica of itself ... perhaps containing the downtown highrise area, the french quarter, and some of the areas that did not flood. Slums that flooded would not be rebuilt. Maybe create wetlands or park areas.
