I'm a 'geographically impaired'. :) Does Houston have access to the Mississippi?

And wouldn't Baton Rouge block the river going north for vessels (big ones)?

Certainly, it is called the intracoastal canal. it stretches from Brownsville to Florida and up the east coast with access to all major waterways.
