It may not be optimal, but no one will volunteer to be shot with one. It is not difficult to put 10 shots from a ruger 10/22 into the A zone of an IPSC target in 2.1 seconds at 7 yards. That's probably at least as good as a shot or 2 from a 357.
I'm with you on that approach. There are so many folks who believe that one needs a .454 Casull to stop a perp.
Not really. If the dude is high on PCP or METH he may not even notice that he has been killed and forward momentum can get you killed way before he succumbs. A 357 has a fair chance of knocking him down or at least throwing him off balance to give him a moment to consider the hole in his heart.
