President Bush had a very busy day today, meeting with Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings and First Lady Laura Bush, to discuss the educational needs of children displaced by Hurricane Katrina and how states might be able to absorb the cost of the large numbers of new students. He also met with the Cabinet to discuss the recovery efforts following the hurricane, and reuniting family members with each other, healthcare provision and finances.
At noon, the President met with representatives from national voluntary organizations to discuss how best to help the Americans who are evacuees from the hurricane. He pledged a full investigation into the response to the hurricane.
The President and First Lady also paid their respects to the late Chief Justice of the United States, William Rehnquist, spending a few moments bowing their heads at his casket.
Continue to pray for the President and the people in the ravaged Gulf Coast region, and enjoy this island of refuge from the blind attacks against our GOOD President on the Daily Dose!
MOO!
That gives me hope. I should experiment. Thanks for the incentive!
Lovely article, DrDeb. Happy reading, for a change.
I have a barn red wall in my kitchen too...copy cat...LOL
You're welcome! Just be brave; you could also cover your couch with fabric, but the sheets are already hemmed and I think easier to work with than a huge piece of fabric.
I keep praying for our President and also (forgive me) praying for those haters to have their comeuppance.
I painted mine in Feb . . . when did you do yours? Do you love it? Was Mike skeptical about it?
I'm praying that same prayer and waiting patiently.
Since the low life Mayor is authorizing force, he ought to go in first and take the first shot.
What are they going to do about Jefferson Parish where some of the power, water and sewage is now working I cannot see people being willing to go from there.
IMHO it was crazy to let them back in to collect their belongings they must surely have realised some people would not go
Thanks DrDeb, You once again lived up to your reputation of finding the top notch articles, This is one of the best :p-)
the mayor will be in Baton Rouge, doncha know. Far, far away!
I painted mine last year...LOL...no, Mike was okay with it...it did take awhile to find the perfect red though...my other wall in the kitchen which leads to the family room is tan...crown molding and base boards are a cream color.....it turned out perfect..
When we had those terrible fires here 2 years ago, people were allowed back into the area for only one day to see if anything was salvageable. One day should have been the limit in Jefferson Parish, IMHO
Ooooh, you guys are getting me all fired up to paint. I have been wanting to do a room with one red wall (maybe even add a stain to the top) and tan on the others!
Well, maybe I got the idea from you--great minds think alike! LOL! I like the tan and cream idea for our living room, but want to get new furniture first. And who knows when that will be?
I was sick of painting after my bathroom and kitchen, but now am about ready to do more--sick of white walls. I think the laundry room is next. Light green on the bottom, light peach on the top, row of photos of sunflowers I took at chair rail height. Haven't told mr. h about it yet; I'm going to surprise him.
George W. Bush is not a person who wants short term gains or gratification, he sets his goals very big and into the future. George W. Bush knows the truth and also knows the truth wins in the end. For Bill Clinton, the truth will deny him a place of hon or among the greatest Presidents. George W. Bush is far above the malcontents we know as his detractors.
We are truly blessed to have him leading us in the most trying times in our Nations history since Abraham Lincoln, and like Lincoln, President Bush will lead us through this storm...
"An Angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm"
WARNING-the first coat of red paint went on and looked hot pink! Luckily the guy who mixed it up warned me or I would have been worried. It took three coats but I love it--we have hickory cabinets and stainless steel appliances and it looks great all together.
Very well said!
