NASHVILLE, TN (AP): A person who survived Hurricane Katrina tried to kill themselves as they were being taken farther from disaster scene.

An evacuee made the suicide attempt while traveling on a flight from Houston to Washington D.C.

The United Express flight was diverted to Nashville.

A captain with the Tennessee Air National Guard says the flight had eight evacuees on board. She says she doesn't have any details about the suicide attempt.

The passenger who attempted suicide was taken to a hospital. Officials say that at the pilot's request, all passengers underwent a second security screening before the flight was resumed.

Good grief.

I'm begging to think this is all too fast and not well thought out.

I was thinking the same as you this afternoon when they were interviewing some of the evacuees that are in Houston.

They were wanting to transfer some to cruise ships in Galveston...and they REALLY didn't want to go because they were tired of moving around, were afraid no one in their families would find them if they moved there..and most of all...they didn't want to be on or around WATER..especially the Gulf...

As far as not planned out...we already know that the NOLA part wasn't. We do know that Texas has terrific hurricane evacuation and shelter plans..they are using them now..

The problem is, Howlin...that these plans are for TEXANS, not displaced people for LA...and the further they get shifted away from perhaps the only place they have ever lived....they might just be so terrified..they are likely to do anything.

MSNBC reporting the first cases of cholera in NO. Also reporting water is a toxic mess of sewagw, human flesh, and chemicals.

The corpses are falling apart and the contamination is spreading.
