On Friday the California Assembly voted 43-31 to approve SB60, state Sen. Gil Cedillo's bill that would give driver's licenses to illegal aliens.
I believe this now goes to Arnold Schwarzenegger for his signature. He has said he would veto driver's license bills before the federal government has released their guidelines for implementing the REAL ID Act, but it's always good to make sure.
Please call, FAX, or email Schwarzenegger and demand that he veto this bill:

doesn't the fed law for driver's license parameters trump this???
Incredible
It should but......
can we say Supreme Court?
Here we go again.
One explanation I heard was that they need to be able to drive to take their kids to school and to get to work . If they are illegal they don't have the right to work.
Outrageous!
yes, but the federal law says only that if the state issues driver's licenses to illegals, they must be specially marked. So, unlike past years, Cedillo's bill would have the illegal alien licenses specially marked, which would then make them comply with federal law.
The feds actually have no authority over whether a state can issue licenses, specially marked or not, to illegals. The federal law just says that if the state doesn't mark them, no license issued by that state will be recognized as valid ID for federal purposes, such as airline flights.
Just called the office and voted. However, they call them 'undocumented immigrants" on the recording, not ILLEGAL ALIENS!
Whew! Glad I don't live there! Nice going Mexifornians.
I really need to get out of this state. I have had it up to my eyeballs. Another thing they did, is that that passed a bill to allow same sex marriages.
What kills me is the argument, "we have to subsidize college tuition for illegals because it'll make them productive members of society." What nobody ever asks these dopes is, why is having a college degree useful to someone who it's illegal to hire in the first place? Clearly the intent is to erase any distinction between illegal and legal residents.
The question remains then, why don't Democratic & Republican congresspeople support an "open borders" policy?
you got me, might as well do it.
Wouldn't it be sweet if the INS were at the DMV with their buses waiting our front ready to arrest the illegals as they showed up to get a driver's license. LMAO
You and me both.
Another thing they did, is that that passed a bill to allow same sex marriages.
It'll be interesting to see what bills Arnold does or does not veto.
Loony tunes time.
They should pass them out in Mexico free..
The border patrol was sent to La.
The borders are wide open...who cares anymore who
comes or goes..
You dont need no steenking borders
Just keep marching to your new world orders
Do we have to fight this fight again?
Good God, can't we get rid of One Bill Gil?
