I read this article; it is absolutely sickening when these politicians use the death of a family memmber to their advantage. Remember John Edwards constantly reminding us about the death of his son?

We all have lost loved ones and have emotional pain; some definitely worse then others. To discuss it for political advantage is sickening.

I'd like to blame it on somebody, but that somebody is ME....and I really wish I hadn't left the thing 180 miles from where I'm sitting now. Oh well... :-)

Thank you for taking responsibility for your own actions.

We would all be better off and more lives would have been saved if others did that.

Governor, Mayor, Aaron Brussard(parish prez of Jefferson)you should take notes.

Cheney is going to kick some dem butt.

I want to know if there is a recall petition started yet because I want to sign and get the ball rolling. Or would that get the LT. Gov in as the gov? We don't need another Landrieu to make matters worse.

As far as what the -- I was abdicating a clear chain of command, so that we could get resources flowing in the right places.

Presumably, that should be advocating. But if he actually said that, that's quite a Freudian slip...

That's right! Take accountability! Whether you do like I did, and leave a piece of computer equipment 180 miles away, or let down an entire state! Take accountability for your actions! Most people will forgive and give you another "chance".

I've never had anything but trouble from shifting blame, and fortunately (somehow) learned that just taking heat for doing wrong things, and correcting as best I could caused people to want to HELP me....and therefore helped me to succeed!

But the leftists in charge of LA haven't figured any of this out. I doubt they will either. I think they're "done for" politically, but we'll see.

The only coherent words I heard her say was that the NHC guy called her Saturday night. She said she went to NO and begged people to get out. The rest was about like listening to Jesse Jackson... a lot a syllables but no words.

I'd like to see Cheney tell off Nagin. If Rudy's town was going under, bet Rudy would have acted immediately then worried about the gov and federal gov . This guy never bothered to do crap.

Thank you, I could hear something in the background, about yelling to folks and going to NO twice, but I was not up yet, so I missed her personal tale of horror, her attempt to notify the entire city of NO to leave, all by herself, and no one responded.

And as a last resort, once this thing is above a category 3, there are no buildings in this city to withstand a category 3, a category 4 or a category 5 storm, other than the Superdome. That's where we sent people as a shelter of last resort. When that filled up, we sent them to the Convention Center. Now, you tell me what else we could have done.

Well, about 14,000 other FReepers have already said this, but I'll say it as well: You could have bused them out of town.

Just need to show the broad a couple photographs & ask her if she can spell two words.

"School bus".

That's all.

...& *watch* the "rage". :o)

Don't forget Gore and his dead sister....or Bush 1 and his dead daughter.Every politician uses this to their advantage.Unless they've killed someone like Teddy the swimmer.

Who was that whiny "Bush's fault" slob on Meet the Press Sunday morning?

It was really hard to watch that guy because:
a) He was reading a DNC script ... really pathetic.
b) He was complaining that his friend's mother wasn't rescued. He told of how he kept calling people to ask when somebody would come and all I could think was that if he / they knew where she was WHY DIDN'T THEY GO RESCUE HER? He's supposedly some big-shot DemoncRAT leadership guy in New Orleans and he couldn't do anything himself. Implicit in what he was saying / weeping, he and his cohorts were totally paralyzed & cowards in the face of such tragedy.

SEND THIS to O'REILLY!:

NAGIN: The president looked at me. I think he was a little surprised. He said, "No, you guys stay here. We're going to another section of the plane, and we're going to make a decision."
He called me in that office after that. And he said, "Mr. Mayor, I offered two options to the governor." I said -- and I don't remember exactly what. There were two options. I was ready to move today. The governor said she needed 24 hours to make a decision.
S. O'BRIEN: You're telling me the president told you the governor said she needed 24 hours to make a decision?
NAGIN: Yes.

S. O'BRIEN: Regarding what? Bringing troops in? NAGIN: Whatever they had discussed. As far as what the -- I was abdicating a clear chain of command, so that we could get resources flowing in the right places.
S. O'BRIEN: And the governor said no.
NAGIN: She said that she needed 24 hours to make a decision.
It would have been great if we could of left Air Force One, walked outside, and told the world that we had this all worked out. It didn't happen, and more people died.

And I'm supposed to help these idiots, why? So they can spit in my face???

Actually, these aren't the folks we're helping. I'm helping the displaced, injured, and sick because it's the right thing to do. I'm not going to let some indecisive, CYA female governor and her inarticulate mayor change me from what I know is the right thing to do.
