FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New

USS Harry S Truman is now stationed off Biloxi, Miss., to assist with disaster recovery.

USS Bataan is ready to accept patients in its hospital.

Two Water Purification Units ordered for Pascagoula and Bay St Louis.

High Water Vehicles requested for police and soldiers

Defense Coordinating Officers activated to assist with relocation in Texas and Arkansas.

More than 1,500 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, N.C., arrived in New Orleans. Another 1000 more are scheduled to arrive today.

Approximately 1,600 members of the 1st Cavalry Division from Ft. Hood, Texas, arrived in Hammond, La., last night.

2500 Airborne with armor support ought to be enough to secure the city. They probably should have been sent earlier.
