He'd do better to bail water *into* the boat, thereby reducing the flood level.
Get him a bigger cup.
[and he's gonna need a bigger boat]
While I detest Sean Penn for past activities and words...its better that he is in N.O. helping instead of standing on stage in Hollywood preaching against Mr. Bush.
I know he will say something very soon to make an ass out of himself, but trying to help isn't a bad thing.
(Please don't think I had a change of heart about that guy, but in this case helping is ok.)

Im wondering why we only see a part of the pic. It is obvious that this is a clipped pic and that there should be more. What draws my interest is the hand holding the plastic/metal piece just to the right side of the pic. It appears a right foot is there also. From the position i would not be surprised if there was someone sitting on an edge of the boat with their left foot in the water pushing the boat along, and that they were only in a foot or two of water.
What does that look like to anyone else?

He probably did more to impede real rescue efforts going on. They have better things to do than worrying about a stupid actor who only thinks he knows anything about boating, let alone in the swamp that is currently N.O.

Maybe he'll shame Jesse Jackson into renting his own rescue canoe...:)

What I read on another thread....
.He was there specifically to find some friends of his who he thought might be trapped in their apartment.
Period.
He refused to name the friends....but that's why he was there.

but trying to help isn't a bad thing. From a sign in Hub's BeeLine Garage, Burlington, N.C. ca. 1955:
Labor Rate: $15.00/hr.
$50.00/hr. if you watch.
$1000.00/hr. if you try to help
Tryin' ain't helping. The resources needed to rescue this ship of fools could have been put to better use elsewhere.
