New Orleans' local newspaper, the Times-Picayune, is blasting President Bush for his handling of response to Hurricane Katrina, and is calling for heads to roll within his administration.
"Every official at the Federal Emergency Management Agency should be fired, Director Michael Brown especially," the paper states today in an open letter to Bush in its print edition.

Pot, meet kettle.
Let's start by firing their worthless mayor, and the state's incompetent governor.
I think the biggest breakdown in America is in the educational system. How is it so many people are so utterly IGNORANT of the way the Government works?
Have to agree with you bigbob.
Proof that the Times/Picayune has no contact with the civilized world.
The city leaders had at least two full days to use these hundreds of buses to evac the poor, exactly as their own emergency management plan called for.
Here's the southeast Louisiana evac plan supplement, most recently revised in 2000. Go to page 13, read paragraph 5. It states:
5. The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating.
To the Times-Picayune:
Let's start by dumping every 'Rat politician and journalist in LA, then we can talk. YOU have had DECADES to prepare for this past week, and the problems reflect most upon local leadership. YOU're the ones choosing to live below sea level in one of the most vulnerable places in the world, at least you ought to have the decency to adequately prepare for the well-known forms of adversity. What happened to personal responsibility and preparedness. Oh, I forgot, you're corrupt and decadent 'Rats, you don't have to try to live by rational policies....
What you said...
AMEN<AMEN< AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That paper is irrelevent now
bttt
FEMA may have had their problems but the biggest share goes straight to the local and state!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please see the info and three New Orleans bus photos above at #7.
Analogy: imagine the media covering the Titanic sinking, and focusing on the slow rescue, but never ever mentioning the lifeboat issue.
It's amazing that the media has either "overlooked" (or is spiking) the fact that New Orleans' own emergency management plan called for them to use their 100s of transit and school buses to evacuate the poor.
But they simply forgot to open their emergency plan, forgot their buses, and stranded thousands in hell holes like the Superdome without food or water.
By all means- and THEN fire the head of FEMA. They were incompetent, along with mayor and gov., and accountability is appropriate for all of them. Michelle MAlkin- no BUsh-basher - has blasted FEMA's head. Conservatives should believe in accounatability.
Exactly, and intentional.
PS: Twenty year old Jabbar Gibson is being lauded for taking a New Orleans school bus, picking up 70 strangers at random, and saving them.
He also saved one New Orleans school bus. The rest are ruined, lost in the flood, forgotten.
And not one mention of the forgotten buses in the mainstream media. There are over 400 of them in those pictures, on two city parking lots.
Imagine covering the Titanic story, and leaving out "the lifeboat angle."
For getting supplies to 90,000 square miles of devastation within two days, FEMA officials should get John Kerry's medals.
