I'd like to think that one of the LA politicians would like to break from the pack and distinguish himself by saying they need to do better in the future.
You know, act as a leader.
I guess that doesn't fit the Louisiana political culture though. They seem to be really good at circling the wagons, blaming others, living it up (Edwin Edwards) and acting as demagogues (Huey Long).
It may be difficult to see but they are looking out for themselves individually. Any one of them would throw another under the bus for self-preservation, witness Nagin blaming Blanco.
It's the pirate culture -- and, yes, Eddie Edwards-type politics. It all goes way back to the most honest, forthright and popular public figure in Louisiana history... Jean Lafitte.
