What hit the Mobil bridge was a drilling rig under construction in Mobil. It broke loose from its moorings and hit the bridge.

I was led to understand that is was used as a floating hotel being retrofitted for PEMEX.
I've been on some of those platforms but mostly West of New Orleans.
Used to helicopter out of Morgan City but that was many years ago.
