If you were the mayor of a major city, and a cat 4 or cat 5 hurricane was headed firectly for you, wouldn't you mobilize all available buses and transportation available to help those unable to evacuate without help? Like those 80 elderly people in the nursing home that drowned, or all the infirm that drowned, or the "poor" who drowned in their attics? You wouldn't try to save the buses instead of these people, would you? Unfortunately, this is what happened. NOLA officials value their buses more than their people. They don't want to damage their buses. NOLA has NEVER deployed their buses to help evacuate people for any past hurricane. Only afterwards, to evacuate your dead body to the morgue.

I've got a question for you, RTINSC. I can't figure out how the school buses would have left the city; there was a traffic problem going out of town. I remember vividly seeing the cars waiting for hours trying to leave.

Thanks for input
