There was an article on FR that of the 1,500 police force, 1,000 either never showed up after the hurricane or walked shortly thereafter.

And the clueless Governor waited until at least Wednesday (late, as I recall) to order up additional National Guard troops.




WOW so didn't realize the number of 'no shows' was that high.

Sis you see the Deputy Police Chief at news conference this morning? I cought it late and wondered if Nagin spoke & what happened to the Police Chief.

The gov said that they'd deal with the problem of the police later.

I found it disgusting that the mayor seemed to disappear for the duration, only to show up "as mayor" now that the mess is under control.
