Thanks. I wonder how many NG were present at the Superdome this time. In Ivan they had 300.
The Superdome sounded like a resort during Ivan compared to last week during Katrina! I'm not sure how many NG were present.....

Yes, it IS making me nuts! Why journalists (even some who are normally responsible like Charles K.), are playing games with the facts completely bewilders me.
STOP IT!!!

Well, they should do their homework before they open their pie holes...they just jump on the MSM's bandwagon without knowing the facts.

Evidently, the Panel is not afraid of Mary Landrau, hee hee. She said she would punch anyone, including W, who blamed local or state officials.
I too look forward to the return of Rush tomorrow. If he disappoints like some of other conservatives on t.v., then I will turn off my t.v. and computer and head for Vegas, providing the rooms are not all booked up by Mayor Clueless..
I hear Oprah was at the Astrodome today. Pray tell, did she bring money, food, books, etc?

Well, that didn't take long at all. Want to bet it's some sort of everything-resistant supermold?

or the belt parkway. it would not be the permanent flooding here per say, but a coastal storm surge event. there is no way to get out of long island, all the exit roads and bridges lead back through new york city. forget it.

WWL stating that the mold has grown in the homes all they way up the walls.... That sounds right too. It happens quick. 90-plus temps, high humidity, stagnant water. Even when stranded people were outside in the elements the main reason they suffered so much was because of the climate. If you've not experienced it, it's difficult to describe. Imagine trying to breath through a thick, woolen blanket... imagine you are soaking wet at the same time. Now... also imagine being constantly bit by mosquitos. I moved my wife down there early in our marriage and I'm still hearing about it.

Mayor of Slidell on saying they will have 15,000 homeless.
Uh, I think more likely they will have 15,000 less residents.
To: daisyscarlett
I don't know what Oprah brought other than a camerman, chef and hairdresser...

Krauthammer's take surprised me too. Very disappointing. Starting tomorrow I'm tuning everything out execept FR and talk radio.

We have the number of NG at the Dome back in an earlier thread. Also remember seeing a ring of NG vehicles around the SD before the storm, and wondering whether the vehicles would make it through the storm. 360,000 MRE were delivered to the SD before the storm.

I do not know the dimensions of the Love Canal disaster, but I am discussing where the pump out of the contaminated standing water has to go - into the Mississippi or back into Lake Pontchartrain.

If you've not experienced it, it's difficult to describe. Imagine trying to breath through a thick, woolen blanket... imagine you are soaking wet at the same time. I hated it when I lived there. Every time I came out of an air conditioned building my glasses would fog up. And bugs! Roaches the size of volkswagens.

Exactly...we all were on the hurricane thread on Sunday night watching the lines going into the Dome...they were all being searched by the NG....now we know why..

Thank you. Heartless as it may seem, I'm at the point where the only ones I'm caring about are the good citizens who obeyed the evac order. These are the folks who took responsibility for their own safety and did not cause the authorities to risk life, limb and treasure to save them. I just pray that they won't fall through the cracks with all the political posturing going on.
