Shortsighted plans are no excuse for shortsighted leadership.
#1 The idea that the plan had no provision for a levee-breach contingency is ludicrous.
#2 The idea that NO ONE ELSE (upon reading the plan) was able to make the observation in #1 is profoundly surreal.
Database search doesn't turn them up the Mosly's, but
Costs - costs a lot more to put it on a roof and arrange for proper exhaust than to put it in the basement and vent it outside.
Me, I'd put it on the roof and say the heck with the expense.

I know Haiball is a no-no for you...but I have to post something I just saw on there...I do closed-captioning so I don't have to listen to Chrissy squeal...
Anyway, he is interviewing the Mayor of Kenner over the phone, and the mayor was complaining (of course) about not enough help...yada yada...then he said "There needs to be someone in charge, we need one person to step up and take charge and that person hasn't shown up"....
I guess he hasn't had a personal encounter with Lt. Gen. HONORE yet!!!! LOL
The arena was running on generator power before the storm really hit...
#####
There is yet another "why" question! --- power grid down before the storm?
Nope.
they were headed to St. Charles, the sister of Hale and the grandmother are in BR Shelter with amom
I would certainly like to see Landrieu out on her patootie. After the sham election that got her in last time. I have never watched such an OBVIOUS cheat machine in my life.
The SuperDome had generator lights, but no air conditioning during the storm.
That's what WWL-TV reported (among other sources). The power grid started having problems right before Katrina made landfall and went down hard right before the storm hit, IRRC.
My paraphrase, but not made up. That was his response.
Thanks, who else has lists, is the Red Cross the only one? I checked that one too, but had no luck, the grandmother is FRANTIC
I thought the same.
I can tell you from someone who lives at the south shore of long island, there is no plan to evacuate long island. its impossible to do. the best plan I have seen is that everyone north of sunrise highway "evacuates in place", and everyone south of it simply "goes north". where they go, I have no idea. for those that don't have friends and family, we have one coliseum that holds maybe 20K people, other parts of the plan say that people should drive to the shopping malls and park in the concrete parking structures and ride it out there in their cars.
After the storm though, during the flooding, the lights failed too. Or am I mistaken?
LOL!
One thing some people seem to keep forgetting is that THERE WAS A HURRICANE! You can't send the military into 150 mile an hour winds, posse comatatus or not, and you can't send them into raging floodwaters.
This whole discussion is getting ridiculous! There was no 'slowness' of response on the President's or the government's part.
THERE WAS A HURRICANE!!!
"Be sure to read his explaination about the phrase "good ole white boys""
I thought you might have been joking about that, but sure enough, it's in there. Thanks for the link.
I've been trying to find links about levee funding. So far it looks like the feds only supply a fraction of the levee boards income. So much for blaming it all on the feds. Other funding comes from gambling revenues as well as funding from the state.
Elaine Chao, Secretary of Labor, has been on TV and radio trying to get out the message about massive support for employment insurance payouts - even for self-employed on some kind of basis. She mentioned going to the Dept of Labor website. dol.org
