:-)
Did you all hear the round table; Brit is back and it was a sane discussion without the usual bashing we've been hearing for days.
That was proof that even a very smart person can be stupid sometimes. I just don't see the President saying well, that first visit didn't go well (whatever that is supposed to mean), so I guess I'll fly down there again. Dumb, Charles. He wants people to know he's on this and that the whip is being cracked. He wanted to spread a little hope.
I'm so glad I insisted we leave early for dinner so I could hear that. If I'd heard more bashing, I think I would have given up politics.
"Buses were used to evacuate," my ASS. What utter BS that someone tried to feed us.
I really feel stupid, but I am going to ask. What does that mean here on FR? Just save it on my internet browser Bookmarks?
Did you happen to read the bottom ticker about 200 dead of radiation poisoning? I only caught the last of it and have not seen it again.
Interesting - thanks for posting that. I tried to copy it and my browser hangs up.
Bump bump bump, Ski!
Yeah. That'd do it. There is also no secure jailing facility in the Dome, and I'm fairly sure there isn't anything that could have served as such.
I dunno what that means, but it sure sounds funny. :)
Apparently, they ran and left the patients to die. This is one reason why the lack of bus deployment by the city is criminal. Had their been buses available and a n evac plan implemented by the mator or governor, these people would be alive.
Heads up- Mark Levin just mentioned on his show:
Check Drudge in a few mins....

Welcome back Pointblank.
I hope you didn't miss TOO many threads ;-)

NEW ORLEANS FLASHBACK: OFFICALS WARNED RESIDENTS 'YOU'LL BE ON YOUR OWN'
Mon Sep 05 2005 18:57:15 ET
Before residents had ever heard the words "Hurricane Katrina," the New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE ran a story warning residents: If you stay behind during a big storm, you'll be on your own!
Editors at TIMES-PICAYUNE on Monday called for every official at the Federal Emergency Management Agency to be fired. In an open letter to President Bush, the paper said: "Our people deserved rescuing. Many who could have been were not. That's to the government's shame."
But the TIMES-PICAYUNE published a story on July 24, 2005 stating: City, state and federal emergency officials are preparing to give a historically blunt message: "In the event of a major hurricane, you're on your own."
Staff writer Bruce Nolan reported some 7 weeks before Katrina: "In scripted appearances being recorded now, officials such as Mayor Ray Nagin, local Red Cross Executive Director Kay Wilkins and City Council President Oliver Thomas drive home the word that the city does not have the resources to move out of harm's way an estimated 134,000 people without transportation."
"In the video, made by the anti-poverty agency Total Community Action, they urge those people to make arrangements now by finding their own ways to leave the city in the event of an evacuation.
"You're responsible for your safety, and you should be responsible for the person next to you," Wilkins said in an interview. "If you have some room to get that person out of town, the Red Cross will have a space for that person outside the area. We can help you."

Has anyone seen a report of the amphibious ship and USS Iowa Jima parked in New Orleans?
I thought I saw some type of ship parked during some WWL flyover, but they didnt comment on that. Navy says they are there.
The Sodpoodle Award goes to ....SODPOODLE!
Glad to see the bus issue coming to the fore.
I have seen photos of the interior after the rip in the roof, showing a ray of sunlight streaming in. There are other lights on in the dome ceiling. What disturbed me was the constant reporting of nobody knows what is going on. Every arena has a public address system. So either this arena had no back up power or no one who could give out organizing, or comforting messages. Why no battery operated two-way radios - like every boat has - to communicate with the EOC. I really cannot (do not want to) believe that NOLA lacked these things in their major shelter.
Someone ought to caption that picture.
Full Disclosure: I would but all my captions are off-color.
