Thanks; I love that guy!
The Buses! The Buses!
Hume and Barnes talk about 500 buses while "the picture" spends a good ten seconds on the screen.
Way to speak TRUTH TO POWER, fellas!

Agree Mickie
There was at least a week when the mayor of NO and the Gov of LA could have lined up school buses, trains and tour buses to take ppl out of NO.
Where are all the school buses????
sp
I WANT CREDIT FOR THE ABOVE PRESCIENT COMMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
C'mon guys!!
Too late, I turned and saw. LOL Thanks for the warning though. Actually it was pretty good till Kraut, but given some of the disappointments with HIM in past beginning, for me, with his commentary on TPOTC I expected NOTHING from him. He's just confirmed my opinion of him.
The thing about the Super Dome that bothers the hell out of me is the electricity. It's designated the final refuge and it has no alternative power? No drive-up diesel generator at least to keep the lights on? At least SOME of the lights, like say, 10% of normal light intensity?
They had 250 guardsmen, 500 buses and 25,000 people. Why not bus them out? Two or three trips and those people are out of "the bowl."
Where to take them? I don't know, Baton Rouge? Houston? But at least get them out of the bowl.
Thanks for noticing.
Prayers for victims of Katrina.
In God We Trust. Not Democrats.
I told my husband I'd only go to dinner if we were back in time to see Brit's round table.
I was pleased to note that on the roundtable, Jeff Birnbaum said that while it appears the administration reacted slowly, the more you look at the situation, the more it's evident that the City failed as well. He went on to note the City didn't have a plan to evacuate the poor, etc.
It had a diesel generator, which did keep the lights on. Unfortunately, it's in the basement, and when the water started rising, it died.
I tell you, with all the media pinheads we have seen, Greta has done some decent reporting from the astrodome.
Have any of you read this?:

That's the thing bothering ME. How did the Guardsmen lose control so badly and how did the gangs take over?
I'm worried about people taking folks they don't know into their homes as well. Potentially dangerous situation.
What nobody mentions is that the federal response wouldn't have appeared slow (it wasn't) had the local and state people done their jobs.
No shoot-on-sight order, no authorization to fire.
Where were the nurses aids, administrators in that nursing home, did they leave all 80 alone?
Clever plan for New Orleans.
Jeff is a Lib, but he didn't make my teeth hurt. He slammed the Locals/state far more--well deserved.
there are some reports, some basic information about where people are for example, that can be useful. and when you have no communcations or command and control to anyone in charge, its better then nothing.
