GOLFER Greg Norman has lent his pilot and helicopter for use in the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
Norman had flown on his Bell helicopter to the Tiburon course in Naples, Florida, for a golf tournament.
But yesterday the chopper, and pilot Gary Hogan, headed to Louisiana to move medical supplies to hospitals.
"Our feelings and thoughts go out to everyone affected," Norman said.
But with no-fly zone restrictions in force and the nearest fuelling stations about 160km away from New Orleans, Norman knows it will be a large undertaking.
"If you think about 100 miles away before you can actually get fuel . . . you can tell the magnitude of the disaster over there," said Norman, who also lent his helicopter last year after Hurricane Charley hit Charlotte County.
Good on you, Greg!
I'm was going to lend my helicopter too, but I don't own one.
That's nice of you anyway.
It's the feelings and the thought that counts. Go ask Bill Clinton
