New Orleans PD shot contractors - not thugs - on bridge
Mod point of clarification: The first 100 or so replies below were posted in reaction to reports that the contractors had been fatally shot.
"Well. I hope the latest spin on the story is the truth. "
One problem is that this "news" has circled the world allready, and the true story will not be given any play by those against us.

It appears that they have at least started to circulate a version without it being contractors who were shot.
Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said police shot at eight people, killing five or six.
Fourteen contractors were traveling across the Danziger Bridge under police escort when they came under fire, said John Hall, a spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers.
They were on their way to launch barges into Lake Pontchartrain to help plug the breech in the 17th Street Canal, Hall said.
None of the contractors was killed, Hall said.
The bridge spans a canal connecting Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River. No other details, including whether any of the gunmen were killed, were immediately available.
The more they open their yaps, the worse it is for them. Let them spew their hatred for America, everyone is watching.
... another "a-hole" checking in...
Gotta link?
"Is incompetarded a word?"
It is now. In the dictionary it should have Senator Mary Loudmouths picture next to the definition.
My heart dropped .. I can only imagine how they felt
The media sure did screw that one up
I hope Sean Penn doesn't meet with an accident.
well apologies are in order from the media outlets that botched this story, more than anyone. If tv says 'army corp of eng. says 'x'' it is generally considered fair game.
you assume that AP's reported "confirmation by the Corps" is a truth.....I won't assume that that's even the truth.
Uhm...if NOLA took out bad guys who were trying to kill engineers with the Army...I would cheer.
Here's the AP order to kill the story, which made it to the website of a TV station, which automatically posts the AP feed. Interestingly, when the order is to cancel a story, the newspeople use the word KILL:

Stations: The latest New Orleans-datelined urgent series Hurricane Katrina-Shootings has been KILLED. The Army Corps of Engineers says the contractors were shot at, then police fatally shot the gunmen who'd fired on the contractors. The contractors were NOT killed.
A kill is mandatory. Make certain the story is not broadcast.
A sub will be filed shortly.

AP: Army Corps of Engineers says its contractors were not killed by police, but gunmen who fired at them were killed. More soon.
Now we know why the levees were never improved.

Red Breaking news Headline..corrected.
"This should be a lesson to EVERYBODY to "withhold fire", so to speak, until all the facts are in."
hmmm... exactly how does one know when all the facts are in? When the AP tells us?
eight, ten years ago this would have stuck on Bush, or any Republican. The networks and cable guys just would roadblock the story, repeat it on radio news and establish the fact that the prez was AWOL. That just doesn't work anymore, does it? And it irks the dems and media to no end.
Again, where is Kerry and his Brand of Brothers? Their unique boating skills could sure be put to use here, right? Maybe they could cross the watery border into Mississippi. Have Christmas there.
Fallujah, Louisiana.
And I just got back from Iraq.
At least contractors can carry arms in Louisiana.
AMEN!
NOT YOU! MSM plays fast and loose with facts.
This is outrageous. Unconfirmed reports only flame the hysteria.
This is a stellar example of MSM's incompetence, or maybe it's their wishful thinking.... add some more violence to the already boiling pot.
