New Orleans Mayor: "CIA Will Wipe Me Out" (Bush declared La. state of emerg. BEFORE K. hit)

New Orleans, Louisiana (AHN) - Apparently suffering from stress and a bit of paranoia, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin tells CNN Saturday night that he believes the CIA will "wipe him out" after his criticism of President Bush and the Federal Government in response to Hurricane Katrina.

Mayor Nagin seemed to have calmed down after meeting with President Bush for two hours on Friday but became stressed again over the current situation still unfolding in his city.

The Mayor has come under serious scrutiny and criticism in the last 72 hours after photos of parking lots filled with school buses that were sitting in a foot of water were released on the Internet. Many critics of the Mayor and Gov. Blanco say the buses could have saved an estimated 20,000 people if they had been used for emergency evacuations which President Bush had declared two days before Katrina hit.

Nine stockpiles of fire-and-rescue equipment strategically placed around the country to be used in the event of a catastrophe still have not been pressed into service in New Orleans, CNN reports Saturday night. Responding to a CNN inquiry, Department of Homeland Security spokesman Marc Short said Friday, "The gear has not been moved because none of the governors in the hurricane-ravaged area has requested it."

A federal official says the department's Office for Domestic Preparedness reminded the Louisiana and Mississippi Governors' offices about the stockpiles on Wednesday and Thursday, but neither governor had requested it.

As the picture becomes much more clear many in Congress believe that a total collapse of communications on the local and state level contributed to the catastrophic conditions the city of New Orleans has been under.

"It has become apparent that after President Bush declared the state of Louisiana a state of emergency a few days before the hurricane hit, communication with the White House and FEMA from city officials in New Orleans and the Governor collapsed," says Senator Dr. Bill Frist, who is currently helping victims with medical needs around the city.

"Our priority now is to save as many lives as possible, and things are improving by the hour," adds Frist.

Maybe he meant to say, because of exhaustion, the NOPD had a contract out on him, not the CIA.

Who's nuttier: Sheehan or Nagin or the LA governor? This crowd and Mary Landrieu only know how to wring their hands and spit out vulgar language and useless threats. What a sorry lot.

Do you know offhand if any information has been published about the location of this mayor and the governor during the period since the state of emergency was declared?

We all recall Giuliani and Pataki being on the job after 9-11.

Where were the NOLA elected officials? What were they doing?

If the mayor had been a Republican and the president was Bill Clinton, those idiots in the press would have those bus pictures on the cover of all their newspapers and shown several times on all their news shows. They would have gone out and found those buses on their own the first day the floods started. And, they wonder why we don't consider them fair and balanced?

I heard people who are deprived of their "illegal" medicines often become delusional as well as paranoid.

" How was he elected, who ran against him anyway?"
Probably no one. After all Repubs don't get elected in cities controlled by socialist.

Here's what I don't understand... Where are the churches? Why didn't they at least open their doors for their own card carrying members? If all Methodist Churches in the area had agreed to take in 20 Methodist families, and the Baptist and Catholics had done the same etc., we wouldn't have such a severe problem. Or if those fleeing in cars had been allowed to park in church parking lots and use their bathrooms? Walmart does more than our churches.

How many churches don't have a bus or two? Why couldn't they have sent in a few buses to pull out members of sister churches? And if there aren't "sister churches" within a faith - why aren't there? Do churches exist for the "bigs" who profit and run them? Do they justify the big bucks they earn by sending money to Africa - and the fun trips that go with it? Why aren't they doing jack for their members?

Or for those they "serve"? If American Christianity can't step up to the plate on this one, they're useless.

It's the same in Florida. Many churches are in non-evacuation areas and they don't even open their doors for their own members.

In an area like St. Petersburg, where most people live in evacuation zones, and who's friends live in evacuation zones, the excess stays home in unsafe areas, or they're pushed into unsafe evacuation centers. The churches, if they took care of their own "flocks" would relive pressure at those centers.

Do churches exists for self glorification only? What do they do with the abundance they are given? How many vacations (ummm, missions) do the bigs get a year and how much help do they offer their own in a crisis?

I kind of wondered about this too. Our church is designated as a shelter very short term. When I asked why we were not housing refugees I was told the Red Cross told them they could not house people because there were no showers and only 2 restrooms in the hall. Apparently there are several requirements that must be met before a church is allowed to help in any permanent or long term capacity.

However the local churches are well organized as far as collections and are rotating feeding 200-300 people.

Some of these people remind of a 4 year old who goes up to mom and say " Mom, I didn't bust that cookie jar in the kitchen" Of course mom doesn't know what the kid is talking about, yet!

These are all preemptive attacks cause they know what is coming when people get a chance to examine where the real failures were.

Is hiz honor still getting high in Baton Rouge or in NO?

I saw an interview with him this morning on WBRZ (Baton Rouge TV station). He is still in a suite (26th floor) at the Hyatt in New Orleans.....
www.2theadvocate.com has an interview with Nagin posted on their website. Scroll down to the middle of the page, it is under the WBRZ VIDEO section.
