Their information on PA is wrong. P ANG was in Mississippi on TUESDAY with communications equipment, and others flew a cargo plane of 20,000 sand bags & supplies to assist helicopter rescuers in Alabama, IIRC. I listened to Sgt. Jay Ostrich talk about the trip on the radio. They were going back down again the next day. 2,500 are being deployed.

where are the other 3,275 ? Joining the looters perhaps? Stuck in traffic? Hiding in attics?

Again I found this about NG.
http://www.usatoday.com/weather/stormcenter/2005-08-28-katrina-gulf_x.htm
Stuck in the middle is this statement:
Terry Ebbert, New Orleans director of homeland security, said more than 4,000 National Guardsmen were mobilizing in Memphis and will help police New Orleans streets.
This was written Sunday night by AP for USA Today. What happened to those 4,000? I suspect it was just a paper plan, no substance.
