The Red Cross has set up a Family Links Registry here, or Call 1-877 LOVED-1S (1-877-568-3317)
As a result of Hurricane Katrina's passage through the Southern coast of the United States, thousands of persons within the United States and abroad have lost contact with their loved ones.
In an effort to help restoring family links, the ICRC in close cooperation with the American Red Cross offers the following services to all those seeking information about their relatives possibly affected by the hurricane.
This website is managed by the ICRC in close cooperation with the American Red Cross and with other National Societies working in the disaster area.
The ICRC has no means of verifying the information sent through the network. It cannot accept responsibility for any inaccurate information given through the services made available on this site.

I initially tried to put this under breaking news, and it's not appearing under any news category. I'm thinking a lot of freepers concerned about people in the Katrina area would consider this more worthy of a "news" category entry than some of what's there
Yes, very helpful for folks. Glad you posted it.
