I have a unique background. I hold a Ph.D. in philosophy from Drew University and I am a seasoned and award-winning journalist. And I'm the most humblest guy in the whole world.

The first sentence aside, this is a good article.

In 1995, the Chechens under Com. Shamail Basayev planted a radiological bomb in Izmailovsky Park near Moscow . The bomb was made of cesium-137, and, if detonated, would have killed thousands of Russians. This incident represented the first case of a nuke to be deployed as a weapon of terror. Later that same year, Dzokhar Dudayev, the leader of the Chechen Mafia, offered to sell his collection of nuclear weapons to the United States in exchange for U. S. recognition of Chechnya 's independence. The Clinton Administration declined and so the weapons were sold to al-Qaida.

I've never heard this before. Shades of the Sudan blunder?

Stock up on supplies of water, canned goods, ammo and essentials, 'cause Homeland Security is a joke and has no plan of action for anything. Thanks to Katrina Bin Laden now knows this country will dither and fumble when a major disaster strikes, then continue to fight over blame rather than get its act together and stand united in the face of horror. Yeah, a very good week for our enemies and a terrible one for 'America', a nation that seems to me hardly exists.

So A. Q. Khan appears to have been, under all the academic cover, a committed Wahhabist. Or else, Al Q'aeda and the Wahhabists captured him by, say, blackmail or extortion, rather in the manner of the sect of the Assassins.

OK, so Khan proliferated to Al Q'aeda.

Who proliferated to him?

IOW, what are the chances we're looking at the pointy end of a "borrowed knife" strategy, another point of which is called Kim Jong Il?

A secret knife in the back?

So, the intel community, law enforcement and the military are completely incompetent and can't do anything right while Al Queda has outsmarted and outmanuevered us at every turn. Wow, who would of thought?

Weren't these same guys telling us two months ago that San Francisco, Chicago, and Las Vegas were about to be nuked. I picture an oldtime religious fanatic in sackcloth and ashes carrying around a sign "The World Will End on..." and various days of the week taped on one over the other.

Setting off a 15kT weapon in Times Square would cause MUCH less destruction and MANY fewer problems than Hurricane Katrina.

Paul L. Williams is a former consultant to the FBI on organized crime and terrorism.

Weasel words; did he make some kook statement that the FBI asked him about just to cover its butt?

...I have a unique background. I hold a Ph.D. in philosophy from Drew University and I am a seasoned and award-winning journalist.

According to the Drew University website:

M.A./Ph.D.: Areas of study include: English Literature, Liturgical Studies, Modern History & Literature, Women's Studies (M.A. only, Ph.D. concentration), Biblical Studies, Religion & Society, Theological & Religious Studies and Wesleyan & Methodist Studies.

I have to wonder how any of these subjects would qualify someone to talk about terrorism.

This all sounds like Art Bell stuff; I suspect if AQ had a bomb in the US they'd detonate it. To just keep it here would be to risk its capture.

One thing for sure...Katrina has shown

If you live in an urban area...don't

And you are responsible for yourself and your loved ones....

Find those like minded neighbors...from your church or other
organizations and make a plan and gather survival supplies..

More is better...

"Such information can be obtained by any journalist with a telephone, a computer, and a library card."

What do you guys think about the credibility of this? This interview sounds believable to me. Nuking America is the only way that OBL could achieve his objectives. How else could he kill 4 million?

We know that AQ had ties to Khan and sought to obtain nukes. This is getting scary. It isn't unthinkable that they could have smuggled nukes into the US, as Bush and others have in fact warned.

Is this guy just a crazy trying to sell books, or should we really be paying attention?

Should I get out the heavy duty foil or what?

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the concept of a major city utterly devastated, thousands of people dead, emergency management in disarray and a hostile population within our borders attacking state and federal troops.

Sorry, it's completely inconceivable to me.
