From Goddard Space Flight Center

Hurricane Katrina progression is observed by the Aqua and Terra satellites. Katrina hit land on August 29, 2005, near the Louisiana-Mississippi border. Katrina's center was located near the mouth of the Pearl River about 40-45 miles west-southwest of Biloxi, Mississippi and about 30-35 miles east-northeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. Katrina is the eleventh named storm of the 2005 Atlantic Hurricane season.

There is a gap in Goddard's images for August 28.

One more thing...

It would be interesting to contrast/compare the federal & state response to 9/11 with the LA Katrina response.

Ping for must reading.

Don't expect the "journalists" in the LameStream Media to connect the dots, though. Most are kids with no concept of stringing together a coherent series of thoughts for more than a 30-second read.

The ones who are capable of seeing the truth are usually leftist bigots who are committed to seeing any conservative administration attacked incessantly.

If we go by only media reports that were available at the time, New Orleans Flooding Problems were first known early Tuesday. For at least 8 hours prior to that everyone was partying with the shrimp on bourbon street. So effectively, everyone was evacuated from New Orleans in 4 days. Not bad. How many total people were evacuated ?

BUMP........increditable job, Wolfstar. Since this is an ongoing story/time line, it needs to be on a continuing basis, like the Katrina threads, as more info comes in. Thanks for all the work you put into this.

Your post is excellent, and it frustrates me to no end that pundits, talk show hosts, and private citizens like Freepers and bloggers are left to make the administration's case for it.

THIS IS WHY KARL ROVE SHOULD BE FIRED.

I have for years been swimming against the stream of people who say that Karl Rove is a genius, evil or otherwise. I think Rove is luckier than he will ever be good. This is what I wrote last July:

What's bad about it is that Rove, as I have said many times before, doesn't know that he's luckier than he will ever be good, and it appears that he's doing another "Rove-a-Dope" -- that is, just waiting until a controversy punches itself out -- when it's easier and simpler to kill it with cold hard facts.
Rove's luck has struck again, with Justice William Rehnquist's death giving the Sunday shows something to talk about besides What Went Wrong in New Orleans.

Rove has failed to trumpet accomplishments and achievements of Bush's economy and foreign policy and let lies, misconceptions and half-truths about Bush, Cheney, Cabinet figures, court nominees, and others go unanswered for at least a day several times in the past five years. But this slow response to criticism (much of it valid, most of it not) to the reaction of the Federal Government to Katrina has not only damaged the reputation of this President, but the reputation of the United States throughout the world.

I am not worried about the investigation into the Plame kerfuffle; I would be surprised if Rove was found guilty of doing anything besides trying to make sure the truth was told about Joe Wilson. I also believe that there is nothing Rove does that other consultants couldn't do just as well or better -- after all, look at Bush's approval numbers. That's not a "genius" at work.

Good job at finding all of that Wolfstar! Wish we could swamp the media with all of it. Would they pay any attention to it, do you suppose?

Have not read the whole thread but is there anyway a few pictures of the computer models (perhaps 3 over the week leading up to the LA/MS landfall) can be inserted showing how quickly all the models came together and where ALL of them were predicting Katrina to hit land. This needs to be to emphasized to show that there was some lead time to get these people out .
