I just prefer newbies not come out of nowhere demanding things from longstanding members.
I will, at this time, believe you have lurked for 2 years but I figured by now, you would know who is who around here. Also, you would probably have a good idea how we react to newbies.
I took it as a shot against the thread starter because your journalistic criteria wasnt met. If Jim Robinson said something like you did, then I think I could roll with that.

If it would've been a thread started-it would've been more than likely called 'a vanity post'.
No one said a word about you participating -- it was your condescending post about two sources for a journalist which meant you didn't have a clue about this site.

Yes, they/we do let newbies participate. By FR standards I am a newbie. I participate a great deal. Some might say far too much. LOL!
I have never been referred to as a troll, but then, I never argued when some one tried to explain the way things work around here. I listened and learned. FWIW
We were all newbies once. I am still a newbie.
The trick is to respect your elders, remember you have a lot to learn, don't pick fights, if you can't say anything nice, don't and listen before you speak.
Kind of like real life...only easier.
