Well, it'll take a few years for the true story to come out, I expect - but we'll see. Go read about the last few months of Thurgood Marshall, for example. Apparently, my dog would have better comprehended day-to-day Court activities.

I think Rehnquist should have been packing up his desk right after the Inauguration. Cocooned, ivory-tower, deathgrip-on-the-bench Supes may not be best for our country; keep 'em hard to remove, but set a mandatory retirement age.

A mandatory retirement age would encourage Presidents to nominate as young a Justice as possible possibly to the detriment of qualifications. One 12 year Term limit is better.
