It didn't take long for Estrich to make that connection. Using two tragic events for political gain is pretty spectacular, even for a democrat.
Condolences for the family.
Well Rush was right, libs are more funny out of power
If she did, it would be seen for what it would be---totally political...and unseemly, IMHO!

Investigate, get in before the zot
It's Saturday night. Susan's been drinking. She can be excused.
New here, huh?
You may have lurked before signing up less than a week ago so I can only offer up one thing... Start looking around first before basically accusing long standing good FReepers of false rumors.
I also remember thinking that he must favor the faltering attorney's legal position. I was wrong. Rehnquist penned the majority 7-2 decision that favored the other party in the case.
Nevertheless, Rehnquist seemed always to me to be a consummate gentleman, a stellar credit to a much-maligned profession, the model of what every lawyer ought to be.
Did he rule against you or your family??
Why the harshness?
She won't be talked out of retiring. I think it is her husband who is very ill and she wants to retire.
Say G'

Thanks for the info Jewels.
Is that Susan Estrich you're talking about? I don't have cable.
If that's the case, please, no pictures!
"I would love to see Judge Jones on the Supreme Court. I think it is much more likely, however, that you will see Judge Edith Brown (Joy) Clement nominated. She is from New Orleans and can't go home. Wouldn't the Democrats look bad if they attacked a hurricane victim? I personally like her very much and think she would be a very good choice."
I agree with you, and would add, President Bush might want to appoint a woman. Here's a bit of her bio:
"Clement was born in Birmingham, Alabama and educated at the University of Alabama, receiving her B.A. in 1969, and at Tulane Law School, where she received a J.D. in 1972. Her early career included a period clerking for Judge Herbert W. Christenberry at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana (1973-1975), after which she worked as a maritime attorney in private practice in New Orleans, Louisiana until 1991.
On October 1, 1991 Clement was nominated to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana by George H.W. Bush. She was confirmed by the Senate to this post on November 21, 1991 (by a vote of 99-0), and received commission on November 25, 1991. In 2001 she served as chief judge of this court, before being nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
She was nominated to her current seat on September 4, 2001 by President George W. Bush, was confirmed by the Senate on November 13, 2001 by a vote of 99-0, and received her commission on November 26, 2001. Judge Clement is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the Federal Bar Association, the American Law Institute, the Federalist Society, the Tulane Law School's Inn of Court, and the Committee on the Administrative Office of the Judicial Conference of the United States."
Get out of here, loser
I'm not sure what you mean by "weaker". Both of them are very smart, conservative women. I would hate for the Fifth Circuit to lose either one of them, but on the other hand, I think either would be a wonderful Supreme Court Justice.
"Man....the democrats are going to just go crazy!!!"
My same exact words to my wife.
Oops...typical DUmmie understanding of high school civics...
