We have to realize who's really in charge of the Senate microphone, and it's not us conservatives.
Get back to the 60's, hippie.
hippie, now that's funny, My family's coming over tomorrow, and I'm going to show them your post, I'll let you know how many minutes go by before we stop laughing.
dane, you are clueless.
I doubt if the Republican leadership will allow that to happen and my guess is that Obama may come up against the limitations of platidudinous rhetoric without actual knowledge to back it up. He is more likely to cause a reaction than anything else.
"Get back to the 60's, hippie." You said.
He votes GOP.
He simply stated that the Democrats have THE voice in the Senate, and frankly he's right.
Look at how the Democrats are dominating the Senate despite them being in the minority numerically. Look at the Filibustering, the blocking of Bush appointees, our Republicans like McCain (Rep. Traitor) aligning themselves with people like Hillary on issues.
The guy is dead on. The Republicans won yet the Democrats own the microphone in the Senate.
But it goes a lot further than what he said. While I think Bush is an awesome president, he sold out the base which put him in power!
He wants to go down in history and is making compromises where he shouldnt. Fact is, those who rallied by the thousands in churches in the US to get him elected did so with certain expectations. Terri Schiavo was not a highlight of his career. He won with a mandate on a platform that he is now abandoning. If Bush continues this trend he will loose the hearts and minds of those who rallied behind him.
Strike one: Terri Schiavo
Strike two: Mexican boarder
Louisiana wont hurt Bush since he did no wrong. Those who hate him will still hate him no matter what. Michael Moore will make some movie, those who hate Bush will say Oh hes bad, those who like him wont even go to the film or will dispute it. People like Obama will disclose what they really are, a race wavering ambulance chaser. Those who like him will still like him.
Its issues like the US/Mexican boarder and Terri Schaivo that will alienate Bush from the base that had him elected.
The point here is simple. Dont worry about making everyone happy.
If the Republicans dont start producing soon they will loose heavily in the next elections. That base that was energized will stay at home, and the Republicans in the Senate will loose because the opposition will capitalize on everything that goes wrong (Hurricanes included) and in the end it will be the Rep. who take the black eye since they are in the majority.
When in charge, take charge. The Republican Party is having a hard time with this concept. The people put you there! They WANT you to act out what you said! Bush had the right idea on day one of his reelection. He won with a mandate, now he needs to act accordingly and execute the will of the people.
