FOXNEWS: Mayor Nagin intervened to help tourists escape New Orleans before people in Superdome
Fox News - O'Reilly | September 2, 2005 | nwrep

Posted on 09/02/2005 8:44:35 PM PDT by nwrep

Shepard Smith eyewitness report on O'Reilly: Mayor Ray Nagin intervened today to help tourists (many foreigners) staying at the upscale W hotel downtown escape New Orleans ahead of many of the people in the Superdomw. Tourists were shipped in buses to the Superdome and other connecting buses took them to safety.

Black Mayor Ray Nagin favors "W" tourists. Imagine that headline after all the racist garbage thrown at the President.

word of this will spread like WILDFIRE across the globe, and particularly places like Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc. etc. etc. And it will be AMERICA that gets the black eye

yeh, and America should get a "black" eye. many cities are inhabited by dangerous animals. killing, drugs and basic thuggery are common across this great land in the enclaves of democratic voters or blue states.

don't make a wrong turn in one of our cities. what happened in NO is just a magnification of what could happen in any US city if thousands of these citizens are isolated with the civilized.

Shepard Smith ...

Somebody needs to explain triage to Shepard Smith. He still cannot understand why a rescue helicopter will bypass healthy refugees standing on a bridge in order to pickup a dying person from a hospital.

On the other hand, imagine the international headlines if foreign tourists were murdered

WHAT election? Surely you don't think NO will be rebuilt in time for an election in the next few years. The city is dead. The lucky ones have fled. No sane person in the US will allow billions of tax dollars to put up the human warehouses called "The Projects" again. They should have been razed when St. Louis knocked down Cabrini Green, but of course, since the poor hostages inside provided the votes for Democrat politicians, this cesspool was allowed to produce the citizens who were looting, raping and murdering during this crisis. Rebuild a city half the size to the north of the old one, restore the port, and federalize the Gulf coast area of the old city as wetlands that can never be built on.
Had we only done this in the past, we would not be shamed before the world now and be stuck with billions of dollars of disaster relief.

That's about the size of it, we don't seem to reward competence as much as we do BS and the 3 P's.

We have become captives of BS and more BS, because we continue to go down a road of Placating, Patronizing and PCing America into idiocy and doom, will it ever stop in time...

That petulant little twerp thinks whereever he is is the most important spot on earth. Without a clue about all the other dire need people are in he decided that those people on the freeway over pass that he DROVE TO 4 DAYS IN A ROW are the most threatened of all. If he DROVE in, they could walk out.

%%%%%

Well said. They were the walking healthy! They must have walked to get there. I thought we were going to see a total meltdown on air of a correspondent who had cracked. I kept wondering who was the producer in charge and why the decision was made to let Shep crack up in front of Fox's viewers.

this shows common sense. Get the people out who have homes to go to, who have no family or friends in the area.

These are people who won't need long term aid. Get them out so they don't clog up the system.

Those people would have been murdered.

Nagin did the right thing.

#24..From what I understand, or have read....one of the larger hotels ordered buses to get their tourists out, and when the buses arrived, they were commandeered by...????

..I think, local authorities.

The fact that some tourists yesterday got to go to the head of the busline may be because of this very incident.

I would imagine some CEO of some hotel chain got the job done.

They want Bush to play the part of the hero. They don't care about paperwork or laws.

#####

But, but, these people have been supporting the lie for the last five years that Bush is too dumb to be president.

Does even Superman's x-ray vision see events before they unfold or does he have to see the actual problem before he can act?

I had to turn the channel last night when Shep and Geraldo stood there crying their eyes out like sissies. I never thought I'd have to turn off Fox the way I turn off CNN....as quickly as possible.

Wow. Did you see Geraldo crying his eyes out holding that little black baby. He was cracking up too. What an embarassment for Fox news. They all need some sleep desperately.

...and people WILL believe it. [All Bush's fault]
*****

If a majority of voting Americans believe what you wrote then our country is doomed.

No need to worry! All we can do is give in and enjoy the final days!

PS: I think voting Americans are smarter than your comment.

OMG that was outrageous, both of them! geraldo sobbing about the baby ("I HAVE A BABY")-, my teenaged daughter didn't make it down the stairs in time to see that spectacle, when she heard me screaming about it, and we stayed hoping to see them go back to him on Greta, so she could get a laugh also, but they didn't show him again that we saw, maybe they gave him a sedative....

the plight of those people is tragic and no laughing matter, but the grandstanding by those two in particular, is outrageous.

They play dirty in front of the people and act as if they care for their own, but when push comes to shove, it is all about the power and money.
They are so corrupt there are not words to describe the Democrats. They will use a horrible event to further their underhanded agendas.

Geraldo was a disgrace. I had to turn it off.
A rerun of NUMBERS was much more realistic than Geraldo's hysteria. I heard him making comments that could only inflame the desperate souls that were still at that convention center location. Was he planning to spend the night with those folks? I think not. But he was virtually shouting "fire" in the you know what.

Shep got me the other day with his haranguing the policeman about the people on the overpass, pure grandstanding for the cameras. he has plenty of time off camera to be pursuing help for those people but when i saw him putting a run of the mill cop on the spot on national tv when that guy is obviously doing the best he has with what he's got and HE had no answers, but to make this huge emotional spectacle for the TV cameras had me screaming at him from my kitchen. and THAT was what he was bragging about last night, how he has been trying to call attention to their plight. Well apparently Bill O has been working behind the scenes and got some people rescued from somewhere. he didn't need to be having a hissy fit on camera to do it (not that he isn't capable, mind you!). Shep is out of his gourd and needs to let someone who is in their right mind go about helping those people, not making a media spectacle of himself.
