Excellent points. The worst of them don't want to "report" they want to tell us lesser mortals the "meaning" of what happened/is happening. It's especially irresponsible when they try to do it by "emoting." If they can't conrol their emotions when confronted with distressing reality, they shouldn't be on-the- scene reporters.
I want to see the MSM..granted they probably won't, go after NO Mayor Nagin.. He's got the nerve to cuss out Bush, Blanco, etc for not helping his city.. Yet, DRUDGE REPORT has a pict of HUNDREDS of school buses sitting unused in floodwaters that the City of New Orleans should have been using to truck out the infirm, etc..out of NO before the storm hit. They had what..at least a 2 day notice that the storm was on the way..and they let those buses sit there.. So, Mayor Nagin, enough BS from your mouth about how Bush isnt doin crap for you.
Basic rule of journalism: Report the story don't become the story!
Once a reporter becomes the story, then it is time to have them pulled. They are no longer useful to getting out the truth.
War reporters have seen all kinds of deaths over the years and kept on reporting factually. It is some of today's journalist who are wimpy IMHO. Report the story with facts or get out of the way. All some people on here talk about is how Shep (with no beard) has been there for five days on the ramp -- story has become about Shep and morphed into a story that started before the hurricane even hit since they cannot count.
