At least five hurricane evacuees have died since arriving in Houston — four of them Thursday — according to Beverly Begay, chief forensic investigator at the Harris County Medical Examiner's office. The deaths appeared to all be from natural causes, she said. They include:
• A 90-year-old black female from New Orleans who died Thursday in the Reliant Park parking lot.
• A 63-year-old white male from Metaire, La., died Wednesday at the Christus St. Joseph emergency room.
• A 66-year-old white male from Mandeville, La., died Thursday at the residence of a family member.
• A 50-year-old black male from New Orleans staying in a Houston hotel died Thursday in the Ben Taub emergency room.
• A 66-year-old black female from New Orleans staying at the Reliant Astrodome died Thursday at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital emergency room.
Begay said the ME's office will begin posting information on its Web site as soon as next of kin are notified. She said such information was posted after Tropical Storm Allison.
the way I see it... the shape of Texas on the map should be changed into a great big heart!
