President Bush continues to assess the catastrophic damage by air and on the ground in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Bush spent the day meeting with search and rescue personnel, relief commanders, and displaced residents in Mobile, Biloxi, and the New Orleans area. U.S. Congress passed a $10.5 billion relief package for the hurricane ravaged areas. First Lady Laura Bush issued a press statement from an evacuation shelter in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Patient and staff evacuations continue from numerous New Orleans Hospitals. Thousands of patients are being airlifted to a field hospital at Louis Armstrong New Orleans Airport for triage, staging, and transport to hospitals throughout the United States.

The U.S. Coast Guard and civilian volunteers continue to evacuate thousands of survivors from their flooded homes in New Orleans. The Army Corps of Engineers continues work to repair the damaged levees.

The nation's airlines today began an operation intended to fly up to 25,000 refugees out of New Orleans. The airlines are volunteering their aircraft and crews for the program. Long convoys loaded with relief supplies arrived throughout the day into New Orleans, while convoys of buses are moving survivors out of the city.

Several large fires are burning in the city and greater New Orleans area. Reports indicate snipers are holding down firefighters. Reports of shots fired with LEO down in the St. Bernard Parish area. Rescue operations are underway. A bus carrying NOLA evauees rolled over in Opelousa, LA.

WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.

WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).

United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.

Predictable but unfortunate WWL Update:

** **
Updates as they come in on Katrina
** **

07:22 PM CDT on Saturday, September 3, 2005

Tom Planchet

7:22 P.M. - JACKSON, MS (AP): The president of the NAACP says class and economic status played a clear role in how the federal government responded to Hurricane Katrina.

Bruce Gordon says there are clear discrepancies between how the government responded to September Eleventh and how it reacted to the needs of Katrina's victims, who were largely poor and black.

For now, though, the civil rights leader says he's not going to point any fingers. Gordon says that can wait until after the storm victims get the care they need.

The NAACP president spoke in Mississippi hours after top advisers to the president met with African-American leaders in Washington.

I sometimes get the feeling, that "some" folks are looking for a reason to riot.

You are right.

Lib-Dem shamelessness continues: Since they think "shame" is a construct by mankind in his "thirst to invent a God"; they feel no shame in using the tool "God" for their own use. And of course, this is also why Dems can't cope with disasters or terrorists. They are so busy using the "shame stick"; they just can't be bothered to actually do something constructive. "Dialogue" is everything in the liberal psyche. Everything to them is a "construct". It's outside of them, with the real them, always striving to be "free" inside a construct they've created which will never allow them to feel "free".

This is not healthy mental behavior. And they think the key is to modify the standards as to what is healthy and what is not healthy mental behavior. There's real solid psychological descriptions that could be "inserted here"... to describe the liberal "mind".

I try not to use it on the weekends we use the Jetta. It had to be filled up though because it was on E. That is what I always do, getting gas is the last thing on my mind.

Mr Gordon.

$100 million (so far to the Red Cross). Untold other hundreds of millions to other charities involved. The full force of the United States military (bringing an end to the chaos). Billions in taxpayer dollars.

Your're welcome.

Right now, the coverage on fox is quite heartening. I feel MUCH better than yesterday, and I hope Howlin is watching it.

Historic Vicksburg, Mississippi -- which is either the perfect southern city or the best. :)

Thank you very much. The only thing against that one is that it doesn't have sw. But having tv audio could be a good thing, too. I like the AA batteries feature, and have a few sets of rechargeables and a charger. I also like the solar charging feature.

Hmmmmm. Now I'm wondering if the solar charges the batteries or what. I'll have to check into it further. That could be handy for my camera that I use lots of rechargeable batteries for, two of them anyway. The other one uses BP-511A and a solar charger or car charger for it is more than I need to get into at the moment.

I would really miss my digital camera. You can't use one unless you have a computer that runs on electricity or a generator (which would be highly impractical as you would need the generator to run the fridge and maybe a few lights, too.

how is Bush going to survive this onslaught...

He will. And come through it with flying colors. And because he doesn't play games. He knows what the mission is, he keeps his focus. He doesn't need the Job of President, in order to know who he is, or what he believes is right.

Everything the libs do, ends up bouncing offa President Bush and.. sticking to them.

You really have one? I am amazed.

But I think I would be dangerous with one. could take out all the tv's at one time just going from room to room.
