man I'm thinking the same thing!
I'm starting to get nervous... I feel like going to the gun store.
I disagree. I've been saying for days that any 'plan' to totally evacuate the entire population of a major metropolitan area is nothing more than bureaucratic fantasy. There are always going to be several hundred thousand who won't leave. Not can't leave, won't leave. All this talk about people who had no cars, no personal transportation. So how did they get around before? Answer: friends and family and public transport. The Mayor had the latter available: we've all seen the picture of those school buses. And there were probably twice as many public transport buses I'm guessing.
I was afraid of this... one reason I think the women, children and elderly should be segregated from the young bucks.
SEE---the news is just not really reliable...not saying lies...just that we don't really know.
I didn't know until your post that there were two hospitals with Charity in their names...and I don't remember O'Reilly saying that (if he knew).
I just think that between the media's "slant", and the chaos that is the Hurricane Katrina locations, it is just to be expected that we will hear/read about things that end up being rumors, hoaxes, or just wrong information.
It is frustrating for us...but it plays right into the MSM and dems hands...because it can all be "spun" so easily.
Can they even pump this water back into the lake??
It's contaminated with EVERYTHING, do you really think OSHA and EPA are going to let a DROP of that stuff go anywhere but a tanker car??
the idea of finding only charities that focus on MS/AL is a good one.
Hmmm, earlier he was screaming that the Mayor ordered that tourists be rescued first before getting to the people of NO.
Exactly. We already have 20,000+ of them down in Houston, we're going to have 35,000 of them in Dallas by Sunday, San Antonio is going to have 25,000 by about the same time...
Press Release - (PRNewswire) - When Hurricane Katrina emerged as this summer's 11th named storm, The Weather Channel was on the scene with continuous coverage of the storm's dangerous lifespan as it escalated. Experts at the all-weather channel knew, from the very earliest stages, that Katrina would be one of the worst hurricanes they had seen in many years.
I don't need a crystal ball. I have cable.
"Something funny is going on."
I recall watching on the news on 9/11. They were showing "live" footage. The newscaster said "we have a report that one of the towers as fallen". "But obviously that is wrong as they are still both standing." It was quite awhile later (5-10 minutes?) that the first tower fell. That seemed way to late for a tape-delay. I'm not into conspiracies - but I always wondered what that was about.
True, but it must have had an immediate effect since NBC issued a public, written appology.
It's frustrating to watch at home and be able to do NOTHING except scream at the TV or post on FR.
I think we are all still in shock particularly by the outrageous statements, blame game, etc.
I hope you are right. I can't stay this feeding frenzy from the news media.
I'm still disgusted by Shep and Geraldo's antics.
Oh for God's sake. It is obvious that you know nothing about logistics what it takes to mobilize something this big. You cannot put boots on the ground until you have them supplied and a path to get them there. Just because you can have a few reporters find their way to a bridge doesn't mean that you can follow their trail with heavy equipment and rescue vehicle's. There is only one way in and out of NO and that is I-10 and if you will look there are large stretches that are underwater or simply washed away not to mention the intact bridges that had to be surveyed to make sure that they could handle the heavy loads that we saw today going in. Hell no one even knew how many people were left in NO for a couple of days and on top of that rescue workers pinned down by snipers. Add to that there were 3 other states that were begging for help at the same time. You tell me this. When was the last time you know of that 4 states have been essentially wiped out?
Yesterday afternoon!
It doesn't seem that far-fetched to me. Wow, I'm sure there will be tons of conspiracies about this situation...
Yes I saw it too
Do you know it this I 10 overpass Shep's been reporting from, going WEST, will then connect to 90 WEST & then on to Houma.
Shep keep saying people could of walked out to Jefferson Parrish, *if* cops would of let them.
"I agree there is a direct conflict in stories. I think the Police Cheif was lying."
To be charitable, perhaps he is just not up-to-date with the correct info (lack of communication abounds!!), but it was splashed in the CNN lead article today:
"NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- Four days after Hurricane Katrina devastated much of the northern Gulf Coast, tired and angry people stranded at the convention center in New Orleans welcomed a supply convoy carrying food, water and medicine with cheers and tears of joy. It was perhaps the biggest breakthrough in a day of progress in the ravaged city."
