When Texas has Jessee Jackson on site for a few weeks demanding constant things, accusing Texans of being racists, shaking down the state of Texas,,,you might be sorry.

but I do remember Shep reporting from a bridge yesterday where the dead body of a man was lying there on the bridge.

Well this is the largest disaster in our history and Shep has no business reporting on it if one floating body is going to send him into hysterics.

Noticed one man who commented that this was a disaster of Biblical proportions. It is that. I've also been seeing testimonies from survivors and taking notes. Seems a large percentage of them are re-evaluating their lives. Who knows what changes God will have wrought by the time these people get settled in a "new" life? I pray that they all find a renewed meaning in their lives.

He had at least 650 local buses which could have been used in an evacuation. Provisions for this would have to been made in adavance and in the city's evacuation plan, of course.

The evacuation plan seems to have been that those in a position of responsibility hoped it would turn out fine, and if not, they'd find someone to blame.

Here's one of my WWL updates, and it is good news in terms of normalcy

Updates as they come in on Katrina
09:05 PM CDT on Friday, September 2, 2005

Tom Planchet

9:03 P.M. - (AP): Tulane has canceled its fall semester and students are encouraged to enroll elsewhere for classes.

7:49 P.M. - (AP): They haven't quite figured out how yet, but Tulane is going to play football this season.

Students are being allowed to enroll in "nine of the leading higher education associations," according to a statement from Tulane president Scott Cowen. That means the school's athletes will also be able to play sports this fall.

***
"We're playing ball," said Scott Sidwell, Tulane's associate athletic director. "Now it's up to us to make it happen."
***

Athletic director Rick Dickson and Conference USA commissioner Britton Banowsky began discussing contingency plans for Tulane after the team forced to leave New Orleans because of Hurricane Katrina. The duo flew to Houston on Friday and met with Cowen.

"Until 4 p.m. on Friday," Dickson said, "we didn't know the answer if we could compete in our sports programs."

But a decision was made to get Tulane students in classrooms, and that meant football players, too. The team is currently in Dallas, as guests of Southern Methodist University.

It's ok. I realized right after posting my reply that that was sarcasm.

But i do wonder what the DUmmies are saying. Probably nothing.

How can anyone conjure up an excuse for thinking that it is preferable for these people to stand in a foot of human excrement rather than get on a bus with no toilets.

I'm surprised that the mayor didn't say that the school buses were insufficient because they don't have seat belts.

What I find absolutely unbelievable is that people would defend journalists losing it on air. It is NOT defensible. Their role is to report the news which IS being monitored so that help can be sent. Not to potential gin the crowd into more hysteria.

And that doesn't make me inhuman for stating so. If I'm in a crisis I do NOT want someone screaming, crying or incoherant in charge. AND NO ONE HERE WOULD!

Blanco is being deservedly ripped for crying. The Mayor for cursing on radio. I am not going to exempt journalists because some people here want to "feel" want the people there "feel". This isn't some damn reality show.

Cool heads are the only thing I find acceptable because cool heads prevent stampedes and get the help necessary.

Nope, Shep saw a body in the water and has been harping on it for days. Guess what, there are going to be a hell of a lot of bodies before this is over and we need adults reporting the news not trying to be the news.

If there are thugs in the midst then I am sure they will eventually be dealt with. In the meantime there are human beings, Americans in need.

... from several different locations. Also Steve Harrigan was in yet another place saying the same thing. But they are all "hysterical" and making things more "dangerous."

I am listening to WDSU. Guy on works for WDSU and was stranded during the flood. He tells of getting out and not understanding the stories about no food & water. He said that when he got to a pickup point, the helicopters kicked out boxes and boxes of water & mre's. He said they had so much water they could wash mud off.

Indoors: 12 gauge, light load as round one followed by 00.

Handgun: Glock(if you know how to be safe), Kimber, S&W, etc.

Rifle: Any semi-auto. AK47 clones are cheap, reliable, and have cheap ammo.

Take safety & marksmanship & concealed carry training. Memorize the MAIN safety rules and train your trigger finger to stay OUT of there unless you intend to destroy what's in your sights.

Shepr and geraldo are hysterical. If they weren't, they would be aware of good things happening and report as is their job to do. And no one can state there are not good things amongst the bad. that isn't pollyanna, it's reality.

Reality is not screaming they are all alone and no one cares.
