AT THE REQUEST OF THE MERCER COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, THE ILLINOIS EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED FOR AN AMBER ALERT.

AT 10:15 PM ON SEPTEMBER 1ST, DEVIN K HANKINS, A 10 YEAR OLD MALE, WHITE WAS ABDUCTED FROM THE BEDROOM OF HIS RESIDENCE AT 202 EAST SYCAMORE, NEW WINDSOR, ILLINOIS. DEVIN WEARS SILVER WIRE RIMMED GLASSES, HIS HAIR PARTS TO THE LEFT AND HE HAS A MOLE ON HIS NECK. HE WAS WEARING MESH SHORTS. HE WAS ABDUCTED BY HIS NON-CUSTODIAL MOTHER AIMEE LYNN HANKINS. THE SUSPECT IS FEMALE, WHITE, 34 YEARS OLD, FIVE FEET TALL, ONE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE POUNDS, BROWN HAIR AND GREEN EYES, WITH TATTOOS ON THE LEFT WRIST AND LEFT FOREARM. THE SUSPECT'S VEHICLE IS A GRAY 1994 FORD TAURUS, ARKANSAS LICENSE 502GKP.

When most states set up the Amber Alert systems, they specifically said it was not to be used in custody disputes. Wonder what changed in Illinois.

But this inflammatory detail makes it sound sinister.

Unfortunately, broadcasting every custodial dispute this way causes me ignore ALL amber alerts and the real abductions won't get the attention they deserve.

It's too bad.

In my non-PC opinion, children can not be abducted by parents. I guess a non-custodial preface to mother has some signicant moral relative meaning -like, it takes a village AND absolute truth means nothing AND big brother sets morality?

If this woman is a threat or danger -lay it out there -IF however, this is but designated moral relative 'truth' imposed by judicial fiat -I do not care nor is it my place to judge what is what with a child that is with one of the two parents that happen to be in disagreement over some matters...
