President Bush and House conservatives are on a collision course over the contentious issue of immigration reform, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) said Thursday.
Tancredo, chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus and author of the REAL GUEST Act (HR 3333), said he expects Bush to embrace legislation drafted by Senators Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) and John McCain (R.-Ariz.). Conservatives strongly oppose the bill, which Tancredo said is tantamount to amnesty.
Tancredos bill instead focuses on enforcement, particularly on companies that employ illegal immigrants. He said once illegal workers are denied jobs, they will no longer flood into the United States.
If you stop illegal employment in this countrysome big, high-profile cases with . . .

He was a libertarian Republican before 2004 who had promised to terem limit himself.
Buchanan got ahold of him and they formed a fund raising partnership called Team America and Tancredo became Buchanan's sock puppet.
He broke his term limit promise and since hooking up with Buchanan has been spewing extremist anti-Hispanic hate speech for the purpose of soliciting contributions.
Most of the FReepers who support him are just the old Buchanan Bush-hating third party losers.
BOTH political parties are in bed with corporate interests.
Indeed, I think the Democrats are worse on that front.
There was no more spectacular crash and burn in American politics than Ross Perot. But, Perot did accomplish the job of changing the national view on deficit spending. Tancredo hopefully can achieve a similiar result on illegal immigration.
Tancredo acknowledges he's not going to be nominated for president. He's running to make sure all the candidates take a firm stand on immigration reform.
Apparently the voters got one issue on their mind too. According to a Washington Post poll:
The issue on which Bush scores worst is not Iraq, the economy or Social Security. It is immigration. News accounts often implicitly assume that more or less all of those who are critical of the administration are on the administration's left. In fact, though, on the issue where the President's position is least popular, the criticism comes almost entirely from the right, some of it from people who on other issues describe themselves as moderates or even liberals.
If you think conservatives aren't deeply concerned about immigration and that it won't affect future GOP races in the House if it's not handled properly you're misreading the current mood of voters.
Take a good look at this sentence, all you people who voted for Bush expecting he'd enforce the law and secure the borders. All you people with clinics that are failing because of unreimbursed demands by illegals for services. All you people whose district schools are overcrowded and failing with illegals who can't speak English. All you people whose neighborhoods have become blighted and crime-ridden because of an influx of illegals. All you people worried about another terrorist atrocity like 9/11.
Look at that sentence. Feel the contempt and arrogance dripping from it. Ask yourselves if you're merely a "lower demographic type" who "doesn't vote," and whose views and concerns can in no way equal that of corporations.
And then go vote. Vote based on how the candidates stand on illegal immigration and border security. Vote these arrogant, moneyed bastards out. Vote in more patriots like Tom Tancredo.
You're a damned liar! Stop with your baseless ad-hominem attacks and post some proof of this accusation.
Imagine that, another Bushbot trying to defend the indefensible.
Who gives a rats ass what he was doing before 2004. The current establishment in Washington is trying to turn our country into a 3rd world hell hole.
If Tancredo is going to lead the charge to stop it, then I will damned sure follow him.
The Republican Party be damned if they do not get on board with it.

"Louisville's streets were filled with gangs of boys and men, some masked, drunk on whiskey, with firearms and clubs, out to kill foreigners....
... a mob of more than 500 stormed its way south on Shelby toward Broadway.
...In this German area, people were beaten and killed, windows broken, buildings burned and taverns destroyed.
At the Courthouse, where there was much brawling, another mob formed. Taking a cannon from the grounds, the crowd followed Capt. D.C. Stone up Main Street to the head of Jefferson. Joined there by rioters from Shelby Street, their objective was Armbruster's Brewery, ... After "liberating" the liquor, the building was burned. No one could escape without being shot, and seven or eight burned to death in its cellar. Indeed, by mid-afternoon 20 buildings were torched in that area.
As day waned, attention turned to the Irish and the Eighth Ward. ... In addition to several buildings, 12 structures owned by Francis Quinn were set ablaze. Here, too, no man, woman or child was permitted to escape (Quinn was shot while attempting to flee). Many burned to death as fire brigades were instructed to save only the surrounding properties. At midnight, the inky sky glowed crimson as fires burned themselves out. Meanwhile, the stench of death hung over the city.
A new day brought to view the full horror as the August sun "drank the vapors from literal pools of blood that stagnated in our familiar streets," one newspaper reported. That morning, remains were taken to the coroner's office for the inquest. Among them were "a man and woman locked in each other's arms -- her head thrown between his breast and arm, as if to protect her face from the devouring flames." Two-thirds were foreign born. For these heinous acts, there was no justice done, with each inquest reporting, "Came to death at the hands of persons unknown."
"And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself. . . ." (Leviticus 19:33-34). "
And when I document that it is correct will you admit that it is true and apologize for calling me a liar?
"Oh, imagine that...Tancredo on immigration. One issue candidate. He stands no chance. Dont waste our time with Tancredo's crap."
It is only the most important issue facing this country.
Brought to you courtesy of Bush and his Pro-Illegal Supporters. Remember if Bush and Co. actually cared about Americans and enforced our immigration laws, the preceeding would have in all likelyhood not happened.
In the minds of the Buchananites/Tancredoites, Yes.
