To: Peach
There have been two Homeland Security press briefings this week which make it pretty clear why the military cannot, by law, operate within the United States, in a law enforcement function, unless martial law is declared. National Guard and Coast Guard do not fall within that law and can operate with law enforcement.

Thank you for explaining this, Peach. Many people do not understand the situation and hopefully they have learned something today.

I'm not so sure it was helpful.

Because some administration official was on Bill O'Reilly last night and he said martial law and the military cannot be used to help law enforcement unless Congress so requests.

So now I'm completely confused! LOL
