Tonight on Nightline, during an inteview with the FEMA director, Ted Koppel demanded to know why the Bush Administration did not send fleets of buses into New Orleans to evacuate those too poor to evacuate themselves -- PRIOR TO KATRINA HITTING NEW ORLEANS.
For previous hurricanes the Federal Government did not participate in evacuations, only in clean up and recovery. That did not seem to matter much to Koppel since he obviously knew that Mike Brown was too much of a gentleman to smack him for attempting to deceived the American people.
However, Koppel does have a point, in a way. The Bush Administration should have known the Louisiana and New Orleans governments would be too incompetent to do anything right, and should have planned for it.
WOW, you are from DU.
yeah pencils down is a public school product
""Any idea why these people are being so nice?" What a ultra maroon!"
He lives in NY, NY, right? He is not used to seeing "nice" - and it probably hasn't happened in NY since 9/11 and the immediate aftermath.
Gimi gimi gimi....
LOL, Your not from around here are you?
We sure as heck didn't get on CNNABCCBSNBC and tell people they were worthless crap for not "warning" us. It was pretty darn obvious just from looking at the sky.
Much of the chaos in New Orleans is due to its corrupt, liberal government and the culture of a large portion of its residents. Since this has the potential for a vast embarrassment of the liberals, they are pre-emptively attacking Republicans on peripheral issues. The best response, as so often is: Attack, attack, attack.
Typical 1 day twit and run troll.
The media doesn't have much credibility left now, if you think anyone but the kool-aide drinkers want to here this nonsense you are mentally ill.
You could have if you were Andy Milonakis.
Yeah, not even half of a challenge.
See, especially, the current americanprowler.com, which has an excellent column by George Neumayr.
he hath been zotted! yippe!
didn't even give me gas!
Welcome to Texas Ted.
('cept watch yore back)
Yeah, not even a popcorn kernals worth stuck in my teeth.
*sigh*
Yes, well, now people don't have to think for themselves. Every time the thermometer reads above 85 in Philly the local news station declare heat emergencies. Every time a snow flurry is forecast in the winter, they create a run on French toast in the supermarkets (I'm assuming that's why everyone buys eggs, bread and milk before a snowstorm up here).
NHC did; they had Katrina hitting the New Orleans area as a Category 4 in forecasts 60 hours before landfall.
Andrew almost completely petered out after it crossed Florida and caoused little damage when it hit land again.
Andrew NEVER dropped below Cat 4 over Florida or over the Gulf of Mexico, and it hit Louisiana as a Category 4 storm. It was not a wide storm and it hit a relatively unpopulated part of "Cajun Country" but it did severe damage in Louisiana where it did hit.
Again, as always, I suggest people have at least a vague concept of what the heck they're talking about before they post.
